 Posted: 23:32 - 02 Nov 2007 Post subject: (im)Possible bike maneuver? |
 |
|
I was watching a couple of old anime films a bit earlier and noticed this sideways bike breaking thing, as below
https://youtube.com/watch?v=2dV-peBFCxw
at 5 minutes 15 seconds the sideways braking (Golden boy)
https://youtube.com/watch?v=W_Rcny0aNLE
At 2 minutes 14 seconds taken from Akira also sideways braking.
Is this actually possible in real life? I mean rather than what you see in speedway, since even I can go sideways on sand and loose soil.
Or is it because it is impossible and thus the reason as to why I've only ever seen a maneuver like that done in Anime or in a game?. and if it is possible anybody got a youtube of it? (yes I am quite sure that for anime and game purposes sideways braking like that is highly exaggerated).
Anybody any ideas? (oh and I mean while staying on the bike as in both of the clips above rather than lowsiding it and falling off)

In my experience, stopping like that ends in pain ____________________ Simson S51 Enduro, Kawasaki AR80, Yamaha RD125LC, Yamaha XV535, Yamaha XJ600N, Suzuki GS1100G, Kawasaki KLR250, Yamaha BT1100 Bulldog (4/4/08 Deceased). Suzuki XF650 Breakwind. |

this guy seems to consistently be able to control his traction so he can keep the bike sideways, so it is certainly conceivable that he can do a skid turn. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Drifting is started on the rear brake though...... you lose traction by using rear brake then gas it before it grips again ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |
