Hi, I have just purchased a chinese import it's a Chituma 125cc enduro. I have been told by many people it has the Honda cg 125 engine in it. The top end isn't up to much about 40- 45 mph. Ive been told there may be a restriction on the cdi unit. Does any body know how to de-restrict it? Thanks Martin

Hi

Doubt it would be restricted in that way. The CG engine is no ball of fire, and a sit up enduro style riding position will hit the performance a bit but I would still expect 55mph at the very least (assuming your speedo is averagly accurate).

How old is the bike? Has it been serviced? Check over the service items first (valve clearances, ignition timing if adjustable, points if fitted, air filter, etc) and see if you can find anything wrong.

Yes it is new and is on the way to being run in. The guy I bought it off said that the engine would loosen up the more it was rode and it does seem that way. But he did say that all chinese bikes had got to have restriction on them and that he thought that it was in the cdi. As the revs seem to fall away at top end speed. Any ideas?

As a guess the 'restriction' will be the shite quality of build in the engine. Either that or there is a restrictor but its there because the manufacturers doubt its longetivity if its taken past 50mph Laughing

(Only one seizure, but that was my fault for being lazy in checking the oil. Whistle)

The 30+ year old design is probably what limits it, as well as a rather poor cloning of the CG engine. Reverse engineering is all very well and good, but it isn't the same as designing it in the first place.

hi my freind owns the 50cc version of this bike and it is restricted and does around 40 is there anyway he can get more speed from it thanx Smile

At best it will be a bad copy of one, the only Honda CG engines coming out of China are in CG125s badged as Hondas

A lot of these Chinese Bikes with CG engines don't even have copies of CG engines in them.

A Honda CG125 should be able to make 60-70mph depending on its state and weight/pyschosis of the rider.

Should be worried about my weight, or reassured about my mental health that i've still not quite managed to wring 70 out of mine in that case?
