Dont know if this is related in anyway, but my AR50 had something wrong with the throttle. When you pull away you werent able to pull it right back, this would cause it to start die but once it got above a certain amount of revs I could pull it right back. Shocked A bit strange if you ask me?!

Another thing was it usually never started, was always kept in a garage with petrol tap turned off etc. That bike was nothing but trouble for me.

The clutch cable snapped so I went to get it fixed and that same day I wrote the bike off Laughing Oh well.

Anyway, good luck with your bike.

Nice one.

The AR's I believe had quite a strong engine, not particularly quick but well built, I had very few problems with mine, the ones I did have were minor.

Anyways, well done getting your bike running again.

Thank you!

(esp Keith Mr. Green )

I hadn't been on it for about a month, and it's such an amazing feeling to ride it again. Smile

I also got cut up twice, and overtaken annoyingly once. Just need to put everything back propperly now. Can't wait for tommorrow! Smile

ARGH!

Bike started after around 10 kicks, then I went and got my tax, booted the MOT for tommorrow and trundled off for a little ride.

Bike lost power, changed down and it started going again, then lost power once more. Did that from 4th to 1st gear. Now it's dead again.

Does someone hate me or something? Mad

Have you checked the fuel line? It may just be kinked or blocked. Try cleaning the carb as well.

Hi

This may seem like a silly question, but you do have plenty of petrol in there? Just that if it had flooded from fuel dripping through, plus various attempts to start it and draining the carb it might well have used up quite a bit (my 1200 Bandit used something like 12 litres when parked up overnight when the carb floats stuck and I left it on prime by mistake).

All the best

Keith

Fuel is coming through well also. Spark is pretty small though, wonder if that is the problem.

I've got a spare coil, not sure how but i can try and put that one in.

Hi

Change the spark plug first. However the coil is normally quite easy to change. Often just held in place with little more than a rubber band, and only a couple of wires going to it.

All the best

Keith

I say again - don't sell it.

Have you tried a new spark plug? If you have and its not better try it with the other coil.

Again, have you cleaned the carb?

Thanks.

Carb is completely clean. Swopped it to the other coil and it didn't do anything at all. Put the original one back in, and it still didn't do anything. Swopped the plugs, still nothing.

Pull the rotting black crap off the wires (to the plug) and it started first kick. Now it's making a strange whistling noise, i'm really not going to go too close to that wire.

So it's working, again. Just hope it stays that way. MOT is back on again, for tommorrow morning. Moment of truth I guess... A pass would be real nice.

Hi

The cable from the coil to the plug can often be removed and replaced. Most bike shops should have a reel of that cable and it is not expensive. Normally it just screws onto the coil, and the plug cap just screw onto the other end.

All the best

Keith

Check the condition of your battery too. I know its kickstart, but the battery may play a part in the igniton and a dead/dying one would suck a lot of power from your kicking it over.

It runs without the battery connected.

I'm 99% sure it's the wire. If it starts OK in the morning (with added glue and stuff) then i'll know it is! (It better do!)
