air horns

my mate has just wired up his airhorns without the rlay. would the compressor be noiser and slower if the battery is low.. or would it be because the relay hasnt been used?

The relay has nothing to do with the noise or speed of the compressor, its just there to protect the wiring of the vehicle. The compressor should work fine if the bike is running.

Did you check the voltage of the compressor just incase?

Depends on if the wiring can carry the current to let the compressor spin up to its optimal speed. If not it wont be as loud and the wiring will overheat. Best run a relay on a fused feed straight from the battery to get it working properly.

The 7R had twin, yes twin air horns and kept blowing the fuses all the time as it was overkill big stylee. Got a little horn now so 'bip bip' Laughing

If you have wired the compressor directly through that poxy little switch on your handle bars - don't. Fit a relay, it's not difficult.
