...and the novelty of using the bike is wearing thin not because of the bike itself but because of the condition of the roads.
I have a 30+ mile round trip commute down the A127. Anyone in this part of the County will know that its a bit of a pain at times with traffic backing up, so a bike was the obvious choice to get to work on time on a day to day basis.
The trip is basically a straight road with a bit of town riding, so no twisty or urban playing. The odd curve that it does have has the obligatory lamp post on the start of the bend giving a lovely focus point to cause a few sphincter tickles if not paying attention. Other bends are in constant darkness caused by shadows of the bordering trees, roundabouts have manhole covers at odd intervals and distances from the curbs...
...the worst part of the trip is the amount of road repairs or cracks that has the wheels skipping from side to side and as these are predominantly down the middle part of the road coupled with some slippery white paint and the hardest cats eyes known to man is just not funny in the rain, or the dry for that matter.
And finally when you get the head down and the ass up along comes a filter lane or junction that means that cars suddenly change lanes in front of you without warning.
I am a pussy when it comes to speeding but I think I've only taken the bike up to 8-9k and 110mph due to a multitude of reasons but mostly due to the shitty roads!!!! The bikes fab, but I just aint doing it justice.
Ho hum for the hum drum commute. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Just look at the commute as a time saving exercise at this time of year and save the fun for when its safer.
Pays to keep speed down now, far too much crap on the roads from leaves, fuel and fooking grit...... ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

I like riding in winter.
It's more challenging and it shows if your really committed to biking.
Its damn cold early and late nowadays.
I love the cold makes my nipples erect.

I feel for you mate, I've got 25 minutes of quality twisties and one big straight on the way to my work It's a total blast in the cage so can't wait to ride it when I get a bike! Although a fair few of the sections are covered by trees so there's gonna be a damp/frost issue over winter, I might have to wait for dry spring days before I start hooning properly |
