The ban has made pubs much better in my view. I can nip in for a pint on the way home and not need to wash all my clothes.
BUT
I don't like seeing blanket bans on anything because one day it will be something I like doing.......There should have been an option to include proper segregated smoking rooms in pubs. You buy your pint and if you so choose take it to a smoking room. Seems a better idea than having people out of the street throwing fag ends about. |

Eh, even being an ex smoker (6ish years, I try not to think about it ), I didn' agree with the ban. Pubs and resturants should have been allowed to make the choice themselves depending on staff and customer preferences. I personally still miss the old smoky pub, it was just a nice part of the atmosphere.
Throw in subsidies for pubs that do enforce no smoking and I'm pretty sure you'd get a good even spread of both in no time. As for workplaces, I fail to see what was wrong with the old smoking rooms that many offices had. ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

Why do people bother with the Gov petitions site, do they really think it will make any diffrence, all they are doing is harvesting your emails and selling them to spammers... ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

from 2002
Ciggies duties = 9.3bn circa 2002 ,
NHS bill for ciggies = 1.5bn circa 2002.
= 7.8bn profit,
this ONLY includes the duties on ciggies and not the 30% corporation taxes that the ciggie corporations pay AND the savings in pension payments |
For a start thats an ancient article with similarly ancient stats no doubt. What it fails to take into account is other costs too. Costs to charity, costs in lost work hours through illness and those who have to care for people with smoke attributable illnesses ____________________ Was a driving instructor now working in Insurance

aye
£8,514,000,000 in duty
AND
£310,000,000 corporation tax,
If you think that companies can take out loans willy nilly and just hold the cash , it comes under anti corporation tax measures if the money isn't spent on anything and just held. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Hey guess what I smoke and think the ban is good! nothing worse than trying to eat your meal while being surrounded by smoke and polluting non smokers lungs, I smoke in my own home and don't when I go out and I don't do pubs anyway. I only poison my own body thanks. ____________________ All the breast.
