Can anyone help me with this.
First I dont know what the circle between the light and kill switch is?

Then the plug off my magneto has 2 wires black/yellow and red. Wich do I plug it into?

See where the red wire splits off to the light switch then magento/ and cdi. Im confused do I have to do that or is that for the tailight?

This is what I see red from light to switch then Yellow from the switch to the magneto connect y/b wire. Black to the kill switch possilbly grounded. Is this right?[/img]

First explain what you are trying to do and to what.

You've put a lighting circuit up from what looks like an Uber basic bike.

You have then asked about doing something to a bike with apparently different wiring colours to those shown on the diagram.

Im wiring up the light.

Im looking at the diagram and trying to figure out what the circle shower looking thing is.It could be a bolt theres no legend or key.

The only different wire is the magneto, Mine is a 88 the diagram is for 89.

The circle is an earth point.
The red wire is the main positive power feed from the magneto, if you want a back light then the wire does need that split. Your magneto probably only has two wires since it earths from the mounting?

EDIT: Well thats three of us, guess its an earth point Wink

Just a ground then, So splice into the black wire and connect it to a bolt with another black wire. It looks like I can unattach the other end and then run it to the light and ground it in the middle instead off at the bottom. SO theres no cutting off wire, Ill have to look on the bike.

Any Ideas about the the red wire. Do I only have to run it into the Switch? Nevermind you guys are quick.

Im not sure its a pretty basic elelctric system. Should I connect Y to y/b or red?

So the bike is running and these are two 'spare' wires not currently connected to anything?

Try them, see if it works. At worst you'll blow the bulb. You won't short circuit anything because there is a load on the circuit (the bulb).

Alternatively test between each wire and earth with a voltmeter set to measure AC. See which one has power in it (they may both do).

You still didn't say what bike you're messing with. Please try and put this in the subject line. I know it's in your sig but a lot of people have more bikes than they list on their signature, it doesn't pay to assume.

Maybe instead of "Light help" something like "KDX200 headlamp wiring?"

It s the kdx200 88, Yeah there two wires thats come out the head and they have a plug looking cover over them.

Its been getting dark around 4pm lately and I want to be able to ride to at least 6pm. The housing and lights f0r my bike were too much. So I got a standard light that I can mount. I didnt realize they had wired my bike retarded.

I took a 9v battery and it made the light glow orange. I can get a small atv battery to power it by itself. But that would require alot of charging and shorter use. I could upgrade the light then, currently it only puts out 30-35 watts. With a battery I could get a 50-60 watt bulb in there.

Your bike is probably wired correctly. You said the diagram is for an '89 bike and the bike is an '88 model.

There is every chance they changed it.

You'll probably find you need to make up 40W somehow (going by the diagram) Any lower and you'll pop bulbs all the time, any higher and it'll be too dull.

What I meant is there should be wires in place to hook the light up near the stearing. Instead of rewiring and rerouting stuff.

I dont think theres a difference in the wiring. THe main difference was forks and radiator. But either way everything is exact as in the diagram except the color of the wires, Theres no other possible connection unless I run my own wire all the way to the magneto my self. And that would be pointless since theres a hook up already there.

See. This is exactly what I'm talking about. You need to explain what you're doing properly.

Where EXACTLY are these wires you're talking about connecting your light to? I assumed from your description they were coming from the magneto. Your last post suggests to me they are lurking around elsewhere.

According to your wiring diagram a yellow on black wire near the headstock or under the tank would be carrying the low tension spark from the CDI so leave that alone. I don't know about the red. Does the bike have the switchgear fitted?

Dont know what a swicth gear is.

The wire is under the tank almost hanging out the front of the bike. I didnt follow where it went cuz it looked like it. But its around the spark plug near the head.. Theres nothing electricle in the area besides speedo wire and there by the forks.
