Decent headlight bulbs

Can anyone personally recomend one?

I bought some supposed brighter, blue/clear bulbs recently but they're about the same as standard equipment.

Really need something that actually works. There's sections of my commute where I'm only guided by car's tail lights or road markings. Sooner or later there's going to be something in the road which I'm not going to be able to see...

Only thing that will make a big difference are Gas Discharge lights. The rest are all pretenders.

Another option is auxiliary lighting, maybe a Hella DE fog to add to the dip beam and FF50 for the main beam.

how do you fit HID's to a bike?do they just use a similar locking mech to fit where the old lights where? i'm very confused on how to fit a kit, plus i have twin lights so do i need 2 kits?

Simple, 2x Bulbs(same type as bulbs already fitted), Starter/Ballast box fitted somewhere for each bulb(most new ones are size of a fag packet now). Then just need to wire them up as per the instructions. 1 wire to battery, a wire to earth from ballast and also wires from ballast to bulbs and a couple to turn lights on and off through a relay from your original light circuit.

The High Intensity Discharge bulbs are unquestionably the best bulbs as the gas light gives your fantastic vision.

As im a tight arse I just use 100W H4s ... very cheap and illegal but fantastically good.But beware I wouldnt be fitting these if my bike had a plastic reflector in the headlamp.Glass 1s should be fine

the best normal bulbs i have found are PIAA ones. they are expensive at £40-£50 a set but they are as good as you are going to get without going HID.
I had HID on my K3, although the light was great the ballasts proved to be diffcult to locate on a bike. i ended up stuffing them in the nose cone of the bike, which luckily was big on the K3 600 - might not be as easy on a naked!

I think there is an ebay seller called diane-shop. Some people off here have bought HID kits from there and say they are reasonable.

Got one of these fitted myself and the difference is amazing. Same wattage as normal, no extra heat and they don't dazzle other road users. Just a simple bulb swap.

Craig, do a search for my thread on Philips power Xtreme. Similar in performance to the nightbreakers - be very difficult to tell them apart since they're both 80%+ rated. Marked improvement on the performance. Obviously, having a clear and clean reflector and bulb helps matters a great deal. 20 quid off ebay does the trick.

Personally, i wouldn't bother with those H.I.V kits!

Halfords Super Brilliance 50% brighter Xenon (448SB) are usually £15 each, but around this time of year they're on a BOGOF. I've had these and the PIAA and to be honest the difference between them is not as noticable as you'd think, but there is a difference over a standard bulb.

I have a set of Phillips Power Xtremes in my car and the difference between standard bulbs is phenominal, can imagine the same on bike too!

Think the ones I always use are the Philips BlueVision.

They came top in Ride while ago.

Managed to blow one last year when the rectifier went, not cheap and I think I could only get in packs of 2s. So 1 spare in the garage.

The Z has just the standard Kwak supplied bulbs in it, it never sees dusk, night, rain, so its not as important.

na thas from where it was raining + where i have my headlight cover stuck on

but they are still ALOT better!, i couldnt even take of a pic of it head on cause they where just to bright & came out on cam as just a big arse bright smear!
i can use my black visor @ night with them with no prob

I've concluded that riding almost blind at night, when it's raining is near suicidal.

Im another HID fan, put a cheap set in my bike and the difference is very impressive. Wont have another bike with normal bulbs and will soon be putting a cheap set of HIDS in my car.
Normal filament bulbs are just old hat these days, sure you can get 100w bulbs but thats stupid when HIDS consume less power whilst being brighter anyway?
