Right I got my eyes on a pair of Alpinestars S-MX Plus boots.

But I am also liking the Sidi Vertigo.

Has any got a pair of the Vertigo boots if so what are they like ?

Or would you recommend another pair?

My last pair was the Teknic lightnings and they have lasted me ages.

I'd go for the Sidi Vertigos, planning on getting some off flea gay when my moneh comes through on the 5th of December.

I tried on the pair of Oxtar's i was originally after at the NEC and found them to be too small around the calf and of course the Sidi's have got their funky adjustable system.

Ridden in them a couple of times by borrowing my mate's pair in Dubai, very comfy and good ventilation which is what you want in somewhere warm. I personally wouldn't stretch the Corsas even if i had the money, doesn't seem a point to paying that much extra for another strap across the top of your foot. Do it Thumbs Up

https://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3618/vertigospm8.jpg

Those are the pair i'm bidding on, brand new. Only selling them because they don't fit. £100. Bargain Laughing

Haven't got the luxury of vertigo's but i've got the sidi vertebra, from all the boots i've tried on they fit like socks and weigh next to nothing, and considerably good in wet weather aswell Thumbs Up

Got these. Very good comfortable boot. Get a feeling the sole is wearing a bit thin too quickly, in fact, Hetzer's night have worn through Thinking

Apart from that a cracking boot. Had a pair of SMXs before and the Sidis are more comfortable and much more adjustable.

I was looking at the same 2 pairs of boots! IMHO, the Alpinestars are MUCH more comfy, they've got padding over the toes and the laces inside mean they fit really well. Only downside is that they are a bit bigger over the toe than the others.

And also my humble opinion but the Sidis didn't have the same quality of stitching and reinforcement when I looked closely.

Of course, my alpinestars SMX-R. I guess it's difficult to say. Try the boots on the bike if you can. It'll help if they're broken in, so if u know anybody that has the boots of the same size, plead for them to have a go.

I went for the SMX-R because i had the GPS 3 which lasted me through 3 winters and was heavily waterproof but i wanted a new boot that had better ankle protection and was just as quick to slip on. My mate had sidi vertigos had had to wait 3 months for it to get repaired - they employ a clever zip mechanism, but when the zip tabs come off, you cant easily zip the boot up. the smx-r has a failsafe ratchet to supplement the calf zip and you can get them for 130 quid if you look hard enough. Smart looking boots too.

I review mine in Tarty Titz gear review in the show and tell section.

Everyone natters on about the SMX, so they must have something going for them, never owned a pair so i couldent say. What do own though is a pair of Sidi Goretex B2's:
https://www.superbikeitalia.com/products/thumb_128200761258pm.jpg

Completely Waterproof (i mean 10 hours of pouring rain and your socks are still dry waterproof). All day comfortable, Look ok.

Whatever you get i reckon its worth shelling out for goretex something or other... I remember when i used to ride in my old Gaerne Race boots, when i was riding somewhere and in the distance you can see the rainclouds, the one thing on my mind was "FUCK im gonna get soaking feet and the boots wont be dry for a couple of days"... Now if i get caught out without me waterproofs its a case of "Oh well my legs will get wet"...

Oh my sidi's also squeak like a bastard... buts its all part of the magic Smile

Got to say i prefer my oxtar tcs boots to my old sidis.

Never got on with the sidi's, didnt seem to fit right and the build quality didnt seem to fit the £180 cost.

Oxtars are much comfier and fit better but do squeak like a bitch, used every day for a year and still in good nick Thumbs Up

Joe the problem with the Vertigo Corsa boots is they want $425 out here and when you earn dorra thats a bit to much when I can currently get the leathers I'm looking at for that much on sale Laughing Wink

I don't know going to try a couple of pairs on. It's hard as hell to find any where that sells them around here, as being the south its all gay Harley crap.

An almost brand newsidi Vertigo, not helping Razz.

Apart from that (not sure any boot would have done much) seemed decent enough.

i like my sidi vertigos, only £40 off ebay

i also like my un armoured hein gericke bottom of the range leather boots

the hein gericke ones are good to walk in and as normal footwear

the sidis are good protection and have a rigid sole so not so good for walking

Couldn't agree more. Alough my bike was my main source of transport for a while so I done a lot of walking in them.

My left boot is down to the bone and they're only 8 months old.

The only thing putting me off the sidi is the thin sole. Thinking

I've not had a thin-sole related problem with my vertigo's for about 30k worth of riding. They can be slippy walking around on wet paving slabs though. I'd buy another pair.
