Im doing us proud people!
Firstly, my uncle. Surprise visit today, as he hadnt seen my bike yet, and just wanted a look. He's the manager of the Jaguar centre in boston, lincoln, and has had company cars all his life - some bloody gorgeous jags (and test driven a Jaguar Gorgeous in the south of france, the bastard) and used to have bikes when he was my age, but hasnt been on them in years.
Sat on my zx6 and revved it, havent seen a 46 year old grin like that before! lol
So i suppose that doesnt count as converting...re-awakening, shall we say!
And took my mate out for a blast, as he was sceptical about bikes, even though he admitted mine sounded rather good, and the stories he hears from me have intrigued him.
So I showed him what an open stretch of country road, and 90/100 odd brake can do
Needless to say, he is presently sorting out selling his punto in january/february, and getting a 125. Mint!
Anyways, just thought Id tell ya. Get out there, and make people see the light! (Or invite them to the dark side whichevers good for you ) ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

My dad, I used to wait for him to come home from work on his CX500 he would stop at the driveway and I would run out with a battered old lid and jump on the back while he would drive the 10 secs up the driveway ____________________ Well, you know what they say. i got into bikes as my uncles used to build them back in the days when norton was a big name in coventry, my dad used to have bikes too, my mother still hates me riding, so much so that she asked my dad who i recently got back in touch with after nearly 30 years to try and talk me out of riding ____________________ Do not presume that I am male. |

Bikes are addictive stuff.
I have a mate who had never thought about getting a bike until he saw mine. I took him for a spin and that was it. Lessons going on and test booked. Hope he passes next time though
Another mate decided bike lessons were a good idea the second i started and took his test with me. He's still working on scraping the funds together for a bike though.
Get a load of bikes together and their power of attraction is magnified immensely. I remember going to Rivi as a kid and being in awe of the numbers of bikers there. I just wanted to join in. |

Thinking about it, my dad had a CB250 back in the late 70's/early 80's.
One of my earliest memories was burning my brand new jacket sleeve on the exhaust as a toddler and promptly getting told off by my mum.
I was hooked from that day on.
My parents, sadly didn't see it that way so it was slowly eating my mind away until mid 2006 when I found out about offroad tryout days.
That was that. It was like everything I imagined it would be, and more. Like kickboxing, I wish I started it earlier.
The rest is history. A 20-odd year old interest or ''dream'' came true. Pity the rest haven't |

Yeah it was in the really bad winter a few years ago. We were stuck on the side of the road and I suggested to one of the drivers in another car that it would be better if we shared a car. body heat and all that. One thing led to another and while we were spooning on the back seat......
Oh, just read the other posts, not that sort of conversion |

I think anyone would be converted when theyre already doing nearly a ton on the back of a zx6, and then an sv1000 and a TL1000R fly past at 150+ ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

Hehe, feels good dont it! My mate rung me last night, asking for all the proper details of what he'd need etc, we even discussed what he'd get for his car and stuff, and how that would cover the costs nicely. Got a right good plan for him, and looks like he'll have the funds ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

My Uncles on my mums side got me into bikes, i remember sitting on Chris's Suzuki when i was about 6 ot so and doing the brrooom brroom thing on it..bloody hell thats 30 years ago. Anyway, when i was about 10 my uncle had bought his son a little 30cc puch off roader and he let me ride it, that was it....hooked. I remember my Dad once took me to a car show at Belle Vue and the only thing to peek my interest was the Bikes and Trikes. Being the good old sort that he is he bought me my first bike when i was sixteen and taught how to start and stop in the garage. Hey !!! its my 21st next year, may have a bit of a doo ____________________ Simson S51 Enduro, Kawasaki AR80, Yamaha RD125LC, Yamaha XV535, Yamaha XJ600N, Suzuki GS1100G, Kawasaki KLR250, Yamaha BT1100 Bulldog (4/4/08 Deceased). lol, yeah Fawbish it'll be my 21st year of biking Good reason for a party though, 21 years of falling off and getting back on with only minor injuries. Well I got in to biking late, I'm 34 and in May this year I decided to sell my MR2, the girlfriend said why don't you get a bike, believe me she didn't have to say it twice, always wanted one anyway.
So did my CBT got and 125 and thats that, gonna do my test early next year, and then bigger bike here we come.
Its strange the bikes off the road at the moment waiting on a part and I miss it so much, having driven cars since I was 17, can't believe how much I don't want to drive the car now and want to be on the bike all the time, no matter what the weather its so much more of a buzz than cars.
Hope to be back on it very soon, can't wait. |
