Car problem......not starting. (not my car for once)

Its not my car for once but my dads Nissan Micra which is very reliable usually.

The problem with the car is its just not starting, seems like theres not enough go in the battery. It was last driven last night, but in the deluge of rain it was driven through about a foot of water, which was unavoidable due to it being dark and unlit and not seeing it till we were in it.
Anyway we get through the water and it ran fine, and even started fine to be able to put it away for the night in the garage.
All the belts are intact etc.

I've even tried to jump start it from my car, but to no avail.

The car does turn over however and there is no water in the oil.

Any ideas what it could be?

Mmm, yeah throw it away. Great suggestion considering its not my car and my dad loves the thing.

Battery might be shot...you could try putting a battery in from another car, and if still doesnt go then you know the battery is ok?
Did you try wd40 on your dizzy cap? Try the simple stuff first before you start moving onto things like the starter motor etc.

It may be flooded. K11 Micra's have a habit of doing this.

Try this: remove the fuel pump fuse from the fusebox. Turn the engine over for 5-10 seconds. It should start, if it does, let it run till it stalls, and put the fuse back in.

I noticed that you said you started it up just to put it away in the garage, which is normally the precursor when this happens.

On Micra's over a certain age the fuel injection system doesn't have a 'flood clear' mode so you have no choice but to do the fuse trick.

Not saying that is the case for the year you have though, it worked on my mum's 2000 model Micra.

As above, the other halfs Micra does it all the time. There is a knack to starting them if you have flooded them. No stripdown is needed.
