I picked up a pair of 19" wide screens the other day. And im running them side by side through my comp.

Now my problem is, Its all stretched. I can change the resolution but I then get a black strip down each side of the monitor.

Is there any way I can adjust windows to suite a wide screen monitor, Without having the black strips down each side of each screen?

Are you rinning them of the VGA cables or DVI? Is the black borders on the desktop or when playing videos? What res are the monitors set to? What graphics card are you using?

Try using the auto adjust button to make the image fill the whole screen. There should also be an option on the monitor for scaling and you should have a choice of 1:1 or fill (ie fill the entire screen).

screen res is 1024 x 768
Running via VGA.

Running a GeForce 7500

The black border is there when i change the screen res on the PC to the Wide screen setting in Display setup from 1024 x 768 to 960 x 600.

I also get a black like down each side when I change the actual screen settings from 16:9 to 4:3

I was just wondering if theres any settings in windows so I can keep it to the wide screen setting so the screen is alway full. But all my images, desktop icons etc stay in proportion and aren't stretched.

1024*768 is not a widescreen resolution (BTW widescreen PC monitors or usually 16:10) , the only way to fill the screen will be to select "fill" on the monitor however it will look a bit stretched. What monitor is it? It will have an optimum resolution that will look best however it could be a bit much for a graphics card like yours what other options for sceen . Do the monitors have DVI inputs on them? What other resoltuions are there to chose from on your PC? Try a higher widescreen res.

Install the proper drivers for the monitor and you should have proper widescreen resolutions to choose from.

Depends on what you do really, I want a second screen so it'll make life easier for me when I'm trying to do my C programming work, or if I want to watch a video/film while say on msn I can do that without resising windows (don't have a TV).

I did it because i had a spare monitor like years ago. And I just loved it so much I couldn't get used to one screen again.

For me, that wouldn't warrant the use of 2 screens...You can't do both at the same time. Just put the movie on pause, would save some money. Smile

2 porn videos at once Cool

I'd love a dual screen, I have no use for them though.

Ben, did you get them cheap or something?

I've been wanting to do the same for a while now but just can't justify the expense. Also, I'm running Nvidia cards in SLI and have been told they don't play well with dual monitor setups. Maybe when I get one o' them fancy 8800GT's, however.

Erm, I'm not sure. EMI gets on my nerves a little bit. Especially having to use the keyboard arrows to navigate. The point and Click feature doesn't work on my version.

But yea, ive loved Monkey Island since I got it on the Amiga back in the early 90s. Cool
