Hi

Afraid not. It doesn't specify it in the workshop manual, and when we checked Cols bike against a spare carb each had different needles. He spoke to a bike shop and they said that they all seem to be different

All the best

On my old mito i had a dellorto vhsb34 carb on. Which i understand is unusual, so the person before me must have put it on but dam did'nt make alot of difference. After i bought my full arrow exhaust and polin 165cc kit i bought a dellorto vhsb38 race carb which had all polished internalsand was matte black, the bike produced 40bhp with all that but 6 months later my crank went and buggered everything up. I will post some pics soon of my old carb and the new one i bought they were smart. I now have a RS250 that i hope to get a rs500 engine in and some fancey race pipes, still saving though.

What is an RS500 engine, do you mean 2x aprillia 250cc's?
or the 500gp twin from aprillia?, or the rd500 engine that is in the rs250 chassis that has recently had a piccy of it posted?

My mate said he was planning on sticking a 500 engine in his RS250. I wouldn't really want to do that because they're becoming classic-ish bikes, and if i had one, i'd like to keep it as close to standard as possible. Like with an RVF - if you take out the RVF engine, it's not really 100% RVF anymore.

500 engines seem to be popular upgrades for RS250's though.

It's almost certainly an RGV500 engine in there. It's a popular conversion and I've seen people just call it an RS500.

rgv? are you sure? I may be being picky here, but the only rgv500 engine that I know of is in the gp bike. I believe the engine in question was an rd500 or indeed an rg500, both square 4's

i'm not sure what engine it was but it fitted straight in with out modifying so i thought it might have been an rs500 gp engine, the bike did have 4 exhausts like a gp bike (2 near the rear light under the seat unit and 1 either side). Its a shame i cant find his site, i got the link of the a forum. The engine and exhausts were very very expensive is all i can remember so i doubt i will do it, i will probably save up money towards a bigger bike.

Hi

The Aprilia 500 GP bike was a twin. It started out as a 400cc version of the 250. The RG500 was a square 4, so that is probably the engine used in that bike.

All the best

Keith

Yeah it's going to be an RG500 motor, as they are fairly easy to get conversion kits, and mount them into an RGV250 or an RS250 chassis. The RD500 is a twin crank V4 not a square4, and i dont know of anyone who has put this motor into an RS, though im sure it can be done! The RSV460cc Aprilia GP bike was a twin, and i think its such a shame that they could'nt get a road bike derivative of this motor into production. The twin is the best compromise in terms of power/compact/light weight, and i think an RS250 or 500 with 2 pipes would look far better than 1 with 4 pipes.
On Mark Dents Gamma site there's an RS/RG500 thats ben dynoed at 128.8bhp, which should be so much fun in such a sharp handling chassis!

Just a quickie

What are the base settings for these screws.
(i know that the screws are on the other side !)
Screw A (idle i think) in the haynes manual it says 2 and 1/8 th out .

But what about the second screw B ? how do i set this one ?

I've stripped the carbs and cleaned ALL the crap out,but since i have had the ns125r its been running all over the place !

Hi

The screw A is the mixture adjustment screw. The Honda manual describes it as the "Pilot Screw Opening" and is down as 2 & 1/8.

The other one just adjusts the idle speed. It does this by adjusting the position the carb slide stops at. Best way to do this is just to get the engine running and then use it to adjust the idle speed. Turn it clockwise and the idle speed goes up, anticlockwise and the idle speed goes down.

All the best

Keith
