Reg Plate Meltage

A short while ago I fitted a gorgeous Scorpion can to my VFR, sounds very nice . On Wednesday I finally got to take it out for a quick run, when I got back I noticed the registration plate had took a bit of a hammering

And that ^ was about 3 hours max riding.

I'm just wondering what i'm going to do with it. I could get a small plate, but then there's the risk of police attention/aggro off my dad. Or I was thinking of maybe fitting some kind of heat shield to the back of the plate, but then what material could I use? Any opinions/suggestions welcome.

It looks quite close to the plate so surely that would also be dodgyifying the airflow out of the exhaust causing a drop in power?
I'd probably offset the plate or maybe try to change the angle of the plate.

Maybe get some thin sheet of metal the size of the plate and mount it behind...or tin foil and glue if you're feeling cheap and lazy

You may be able to bent the exhaust bracket slightly to get the exhaust to stick out further or even add a few washers then a cheap metal plate over the back and it'll be alreet!!!

The can isn't that close to the plate, it's the angle of the photo that suggests that. A cheap metal plate sounds the ideal job, i'll look into it. Maybe I should get some sheets of sticky carbon fibre for the 'trick' look.

You can get self adhesive heat protective tape. Certainly places like Demon Tweeks sell it, but there must be cheaper places.

Earlier on today I partly sorted it by re-arranging the exhaust bracket so it was a bit further out, and then sticking turkey foil on the rear of the plate. I'll see how it goes, it should be alright now, will try the tape if it's not.
