no, this isnt Channel 4s latest vacation program, so I apologise to anyone who thought it was.

riding with this low sun in winter is gettin to be a real pain. I find myself having to guard my eyes from the sun with my hand which is anything but ideal. So it looks like it might be time for a new helmet.Apart from the Caberg range, can anyone name any other helmets that have a tinted internal visor??

thanks

tempting. but since im gonna be spendin money either way, i fancy a better quality helmet with a bit less road noise hopefully.I might just end up buying a new helmet with a tinted visor.I like the agv s4.just wanted to see what was on the market with a double visor

cool points sound inviting though Very Happy

You could of course just get a tinted insert that reacts to the light so you wouldn't have to worry about if the sun suddenly went in and it became rather gloomy, they aren't as cool though. Cool

My old lid had a tinted insert which was good, but didn't help when I pulled onto the M6 from the M1 one evening and was riding straight into the sun until Birmingham. I had to keep one eye closed for a while then swap to the other, hide behind lorries and keep to any shadows on the road it was that bad.

yes the main visor can be tinted, but is it worth it if you have the internal sun visor?

and go try the HJC on as they tend to have a funny shape.

also look at caberg helmets if the HJC is not a good fit.

thats good.no, I wouldnt be bothered bout a tinted main visor unless i wanted to look extra cool in the summer Smile

I will definitely try one on before I buy. I've tried the caberg V2 on (with the double visor) and it was a funny fit.

HJC do the FS-10 with a flip down sun visor. I don't think the visor mechanism is as good as the Caberg, but that's just IMHO.

Review can be found here: https://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/hjc/fs-10/

Alternatively there are Photochromatic visors/inserts or graduated tint visors available for some lids.

Thumbs Up

doesnt using a tinted insert (pinlock style) just create a halo of light around the insert?

Nolan could be another option, they do helmets with small external dark visors.

Why they chose to have it on the outside is beyond me, since you need to have the main visor closed to get its full effect, otherwise you push the dark visor up along with the main one.

I saw them and briefly considered them but I think the external visor looks stupid, and like you said, its not as practical as an internal one

Although they may be out of your price range slightly, Shoei Raid 2's are great helmets, and because they are so popular there are loads of tinted/mirroed etc visors available for them.

Thumbs Up

When I first started riding bikes i fell in love with both the shoei raid 2 and the xr1000s. They are great looking helmets and I've only heard good things about them but at the moment I can't really stretch my budget.I'm saving up for an sv650 so I'm saving every penny I can.I might not even buy the helmet until after the sv, depending on how things go.

I love the HJCs as well.Theyve got some great designs and I've read some good reviews about alot of them. Some of them include a great load of features well worthy of the price.Im struggling to find a good range in the uk though.they seem to be alot more popular on in the USA.darn it!

keep the suggestions coming! thanks
