Had a few issues recently with the Tiger, culminating in the diagnosis of a sligtly leaking head gasket that would cost £500 to replace
So, off to the shops I go, with a wish list of wanting something to tour europe in reasonable comfort, occasional silly speed but ultimately reliable.
Step forward the Honda Blackbird
These are pics from biketrader as I didnt get it home until the hours of darkness but what a bike! Power is a bit like the ZX9R I had, with the difference beig that it almost feels like the ZX9 did at 10K rpm at just half that. Only done 30 miles on wet roads on the way home, but even that shows a hugely smooth, torquey motor. I was never a huge fan of the blackbird styling, but the matt black and gold really works for me (and goes with the matt black helmet )
Anyway, a few pics.....

I'm not a huge fan of the baglux covers, but I think I'll keep it on over winter as my textile jacket has a few exposed zips.
Bike is mint as you'd expect for a 3 year old, well looked after machine, and I cant wait to give it a proper run out this weekend |

It only seems like the other week you got the tiger!
What are you going to do with the tiger? I remember you were saying some of the pro's of the tiger were that you wouldn't lose your licence on it so it'll be interesting to see how you get on with the blackbird
It looks great for a 3 year old bike, I wish I could afford a new bike! ____________________ Now: '00 Kawasaki ZRX1100R - Past: '84 Yamaha DT125, '89 Kawasaki KLR600, '97 Yamaha XJ600N

Awesome bike man, nice colour to.
Gonna change the cans ?
Or keep stock. |
I'll probably just keep stock. I keep buying race cans for my bikes (even the tiger) then after a few months the noise irritates me and I end up going back to stock anyway. The stock ones are quiet but have a pleasant 'turbine' sound to them and sound very nice at high revs (when sat on the bike) |

I had a 98 Blackbird and I loved it. I eventually got rid because I was only doing very short trips and it was overkill but, once I get to use my bikes more often, I reckon I might go back to one, one day.
Enjoy
Cheers

On the 7R you have to push the lever away from the grip to spin the wheel and adjust the lever position. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

That's a lovely looking bike.
A1 Moto on James St, I see. Took my CBR125 there when my front caliper seized. They didn't sting me as bad as I expected to sort it out. They tried to buy it off me for peanuts though!!!
Always a few nice bikes outside there. ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

1. Cant for the life of work out how to adjust the clock! I pressed the set button for a few seconds and it started flashing but I dont know what to press to actually change it.
2. How do Honda span adjusters work? The clutch bite point is currently a long way out. On the other bikes I've had the disc has 1-2-3-4 and you just spin it round to adjust, but the honda has a disc the other way around and doesn't seem to tunr very easily - is there a knack to it or just more effort required lol.
I'm being quite lazy here really - I only tried for 5 mins as I was late for work this morning lol |
1. If I remember correctly, you have to have the ignition on, hold down SET until is starts flashing the whole clock. Then press set again and the hours should start flashing, use SELECT to change that, press SET again to select minutes, change that with SELECT and then press SET again to stop adjusting.
2. Again from memory, the adjuster is a vertical set wheel. Pull the lever away from the bar and screw in towards the pivot point to reduce the span. These can get stiff, so maybe oil it first.
Cheers
