 |

Just wondered if anyone has been doing any bike maintainance, or working on a project etc, during the Holidays (for some). i'm off this week, so after spending boxing day and 2ltrs of Gunk, to try and get my KMX200 reasonably clean again, i decided to get it sorted today. i've give it a general service, and fixed a few faults, such as front brakelight switch, and loose chain, and removed the cracked chain guard. It runs again now and looks a bit cleaner, so i took it out for a ride in the cold.
I hate knobbly tires, feels like the front wheel is square, and also i need to have a look at the carb, as the motor keeps revving to around 3k in traffic, and adjusting the tickover doesn't help. If i can get some better tyres for road, instead of the serious MX hoops its currently wearing, i might ride it a bit until April when the Tax and MOT are up. The only other real problem is the noisy exhaust, not yet sure if theres a hole in the pipe, or its just the dented and rusty silencer causing the racket. i've been up to 65mph on it, and even tho the motor seems to run ok, and take off at 6k, it still rattles, and the clutch is very grabby. Hoping by easter that ill have the money for a full re-build, with new plastics, powdercoated frame, and a full motor re-build for peace of mind! But its going to cost me more than i thought, as just a set of SM wheels built to my OE hubs will be over £400! i'm justifying it all with the idea that i couldn't get a new DT125 for less than £2K, and of course my KMX S'motard will be far better than that i hope! |

I've just finished fitting heated grips, topped up the oil, oiled chain and bolted on a non-burnt number plate.
The heated grips, advertised as being ridiculously easy to fit, were about as far opposite from that as you could get! I spent over an hour sanding down the left clip-on so I could get it on, then had to cut off some rubber from the end of the right grip so the throttle wouldn't stick.
Shame no-one's gonna be able to see the left clip-on, it'd have come up nicely with some autosol |

I've been fitting a mountain bike speedo, which appears to work but will probably fall off when I test what speed it will read up to (on a private road of course )
Also been glueing the swingarm back together so as I can fit a hugger |

Sometime over the next month or two I will be:
KR1S;
Fitting new clutch springs and a sump cover (well crank cover style thing that holds the sump bolt).
NSR;
Fitting new rear suspension unit and seeing about getting the forks straightened as well as a few other bits for the MOT.
ZX9R;
Dropping the sump so I can have a look at the gears, to make sure that is the problem, before I pay somewhere to take it apart.
RD350;
Poking at the carbs to find out why it sometimes doesn't like running with the clutch in when staionary in gear.
Replacing the head bearings and a few other bits in the hope of blagging an MOT .
Polini 910;
Finding (the new one) and replacing the rear axle.
Of those, the KR1S is likely to get sorted. Hopefully I'll get one or two bits on the others done, wouldn't be too hopefull though . |

I've been doing some fixing/maintainance of my bike over the last few days (thanks to all those that helped ).
Today (well about an hour ago) new spark plugs, ht leads have been messed with and loose luggage rack removed.
On the weekend, front wheel bearings replaced, carbs removed twice (much swearing involved ), zaust now not leaking like a Russian dam and a few others minor things sorted. |

Not sure if you mean me or not? But the pic is of my ZXR400 Kwak
Not doing nice things like under trays i'm afraid
Have stripped it off to replace fuel filter , fuel pump, carb slides, fuel tap , check all hoses, optimate the battery,check main jets, check needle size and slide diaphrams (which i think i'm now replacing) and i had to replace my headlight bulbs which was a pain in the arse cos i kept taking the dead bulb out, forgetting, then putting it back in and wondering why it don't work...
next week it'll be rear brake pads and it's MOT time...
i take the rear seat unit off cos its easier access to everything and less chance of damaging the seat, it only took an extra minute to take off and could save it if i was to break it in anyway. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Well my 600 Bandit has been an ongoing project for the last year.
I bought it before I got my liscence and now that I have it and the bike is still not finished I am getting really aggrivated!!
The main problem I have is that the bike is stored in South East London at my mums house. And I live in Greenhithe in Kent so I only get to work on it on Saturday's.
But it is almost there, just need to get a new set of keys cut and I can get it Mot'd.
I will be (over the next month) removing a snapped bolt out of the Clutch case, Removing the swingarm and giving it a proper good clean and polish, might get the wheels polished or painted (not sure what yet) or maybe both!! And then taking it for a right good thrashing. (Not before I get breakdown recovery though!!!! )
