had an Almax III and squire lock on order since the 18th... they gave it half a week then told me they would send it out on the 8th (Today).

Guess what? They haven't Evil or Very Mad

And they took my £170 on the 19th. Not a happy bunny. Sent them an email, hope to get a qucik reply -_-

Don't sweat it too much, when I ordered mine they were having stock trouble with the Krieger freebie tailpack I got bundled in.

The chain and lock were well worth the wait though, nothing on the high street comes close to comparing to it.

Well, i work in a mail room and we were still dealing with mail up until xmas eve, so no reason they couldn't have sent it off the day after i ordered!

Also, the fact they TOOK MY £170, and *then* said, oh too bad, gotta wait 3 weeks. If i had known that, i'd have kept the money in my pocket until after xmas.

And i didn't expect it to arrive today, i expected them to *send it out* today, as they said they would, or at the very least, contact me apologising for not sending it out today because of *insert excuse here*... Not just take my money, tell me they can't send it out for 3 weeks, not send it out when they said they would, and then not even contact me about it.

*sigh*

I buy alot of crap online, and usually it's a case of;
Day 1; Order
Day 2; Order is processed / sent out
Day 3; Order sen ou if not done so on 2nd day
*order arrives a few days later after royalmail have lost it, battered it, found it, then sent it to the roght place*

They've had a week since new years, that should be more than enough for them to get their act together and send it out!

Under an hour to grab my money, but 3 weeks to even get round to sending it out. Crying or Very sad I can deal with not getting it when they say i would, people mess up / forget things and the like. It just irritates me that they take your money before they send out your stuff....

EDIT: Just for the record, i'm aware that the majority of e-tailers do this.

That's why you should have ordered a Pragmasis Protector chain instead Wink

saves you a few £££, is JUST as strong, and the guy that runs the company is a top bloke who'll make sure you aren't left high and dry

You do realise it's a small family operation, so they won't have a huge mailroom staff?

It's cool, i've finished sulking now Laughing

They emailed me back, said they are very sorry and will get it to me by Friday. They have also said they will refund my P&P. Which was only £6.75, *but* it shows they are trying to put things right, which scores a 10 in my book.

So hurrah, <3 Almax and all that.

Unless it doesn't arrive on Friday. Then i'm going to start killing people. (Read: i will cry).

Club something with the chain when it turns up, that'll make you feel all better Smile

I assume you got the tailpack with yours too? I've carried mine in my tankbag once, whilst it was fine with a pillion on the back, once they got off the bikes handling went to absolute shit, twitchy to the point of being dangerously skittish in the wet. Given my bike is a bit of a barge, I'd not fancy seeing the results on a 125 Confused

Nope Laughing Was £170 as i was, so wasn't gonna spend th extra (£35?) cash.

And i won't be taking i places with me.

The bike only lives in 3 places.
Work; High security compound, only one entrance / exit, security guards know me and my bike. One is also a biker Smile

Away; At the GFs. Bike lives in the garage, snugged up next to a CBR1100 and XV1100.

Home; In the garden. Secure gate, disc lock, cover and now a great fck off chain Smile

Are they any good? Cant find much information on them.

on the chains, or on the company?

They are just as good as Almax.. and come with all the same guarantees

the company is small, relatively new, but well run and dedicated to producing quality products. As far as they are concerned, if they'd not lock their own bikes up with it, then it's not good enoiugh Smile

TBH, I'd never list the security I have on an insurance quote. It means if the bike is stolen and you didn't happen to put the chain on that day, you might find it hard to get a payout.

better to be fully insured with no security products, and that way if it's nicked and it WAS chained up too, they can't come back and moan (as much)

I've also never found the security discounts to be worth that much anyway.

A big chain and a good alarm would save me £3 a year, needless to say I've not bought an alarm. Laughing

By all means, buy and use a chain. they are a visual deterrent, and will prevent the bike being lifted into a van (assuming you chain it TO something)

The other stuff can be dealt with at leisure once they've taken it somewhere safe.

I use a chain as often as I can, but not having it specified on the insurance means I'll still get a payout if it's nicked the day I forget to put it on Smile

Again.. go speak to Pragmasis.. they package their Protector chain with their own designed and manufactured Torc ground anchor as a deal, so you can save some pennies.

I've seen these jobs in action, and they are the business.
ulthar wrote:
Ace stuff. Their prices are good! I wouldnt mind a mix of good chains. Almax and Pragmasis. I dont suppose their chains are made by the same company who supply or used to supply Almax?

I'm not sure of the origins of the chains, but I do know they are not made in the far east, but are finished in the UK and are just as good as the Almax (If not better, if you take price into account)

What do you mean you've seen them in action?

I've got mine at home gathering dust, and it looks pretty sturdy.

Won't be as good as something that's concreted in, mind.

I've handled them myself at the cycle show at Earls Court, and seen the results of the tensile testing..

The test they cancelled before the test rig broke cos it couldn't move it. The concrete will failt before the anchor does, and since it's attached by four chemically bonded bolts, when it does come away, it takes a chunck of concret the same size as a small football with it.

They are Sold Secure gold in EVERY category.. that means Gold for pushbike, gold for motorcycle AND gold for Caravan. IT's the only ground anchor that has been tested in all categories, never mind attained gold in them.

Wow, that's pretty good, I have a 'Wall' fixing kit with it which aren't Chemical bolts but instead are "Liebig" expanding bolts, heard of them?

Yes, the Liebig bolts are better than standard expanding bolts as they expand at both ends of the bolt, and not just the far end. Traditional bolts expanding at only the far end put more stress on the brick for the same tensile strength. This double-expansion spreads the load, so you can get more tensile strength from bolt/brick interface without risking fracturing the brick.
