What year is it, there were several models.
Most of them suffer from the carb O rings degrading, letting fuel through and making the bike really rich. Apart from that they are pretty good bikes. ____________________ My Flickr |

Definitely depends which model it is.
The GK73a (big round googly eyes) I had had some electrical problems, a new reg-rec sorted that... A great handling bike and really pokey once you get it up the revs. It certainly wasn't an easy ride compared to my CBR400 which will pull away at much lower revs and less likely to stall.

Awwww, lovely bike. So pretty. So much fun. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

My GK73 was a proper wrist-ripper as a first bike. Very 'highly strung' I think is the best description.
Never really had too many problems with mine, though admittedly I didn't have it for that long.
Spares can be a bitch, as with all the grey bikes.

*ahem* no mention of the GK71B?? best of the lot if you ask me...
mines 1984 and a complete shed, burns/drips oil like a 2 stroke and will never die.
how cheap is cheap by the way? what did you pay? ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. | The gixxer 4 was never a UK bike, so can be worse than most, however robinsons foundry in Canterbury can get hold of most stuff. |
Agree, big for Foundry. A guy at work was a mechy there for 20 years, so I can pretty much get anything cost price from them, and have him fit it mates-rates.

i got it for 50 quid off a friend. it was a non-runner but once i put new spark plugs ( £9 each ) and 2 spark plug caps ( £30 pounds each ) in it ran fine. i also drained the carbs and put some fresh petrol in the tank , and as for a real bike im only 17 but i have had motocross and enduro bikes and bought to sell and made a tidy profit on each of them.
Thanks for your views looking forward to hearing some more! ____________________ R.I.P Fallen Bikers. |
