Is there any coolant or are you just running it on water?

Would make no difference it would still cool the engine.

Is the radiator getting hot? Check the pipes to see if they are heating up. The stat could be stuck closed or you could have an airlock.

You need to check the thermostat then as it sounds like it isn't opening up when it gets hot. . . . Or drain and refill the cooling system to remove any airlocks.

Or, your engine could be running very lean. This causes high temperature in the engine. Quite dangerous for the engine as well. What colour is your spark plug tip?

The rad is staying cool so I would imagine/think/guess the mixture is ok.

Not a clue where the thermostat is on one of those engines either. Could also be the water pump has given up thinking about it. Confused

Are you sure the engine is filled from the coolant bottle? Most are not, and the bottle could be full yet the engine is empty. Most are filled at te radiator filler cap.

I would check the waterpump is working first of all.

Remove the drivebelt casing and make sure the small belt behind the variator is still there and in one piece...

...then remove the 2 main bolts holding the oil pump on and pull it off the gearcog, then remove the gear and make sure its all ok and it hasnt spun the middle out.

Radiators aren't supposed to stay cool, they are supposed to get hot. If it's staying cool then either there's no coolant in it or the coolant isn't circulating.

Had and basically still have the same problem with my Gilera Runner 2 Stroke 2002 model.

However it MUST be a Gauge mis-calculation because ive been driving it for 5 months solid with the Guage reading H for HOT.

Does it actually overheat? Or isit just saying its HOT? It could be just like mine and nothing to worry about.

But yeah, it could be a block, trapped air. Take it to your nearest workshop and have them look at it for you.

Can you confrim that it does Over-heat ?

Yes i can comfirm because when i drive about a mile my engine will cut out and wont start untill it has cooled a little ! also when i put my hand near the cylinder head you can feel the heat !

I think the water pump has gone because i took the belt drive of and when i spin the water pump cog the water just pisses out from there

You are running very lean. This could cause the engine to overheat after a while and cause the piston to expand so much that it semi-seizes. Richen your mixture and see if it still happens.
