Riding home this evening from work, there are two lanes.Right hand lane for a right turn, left hand lane for straight ahead. A women along side me in the wrong lane starts to indicate to get im my lane (my front wheel is very close to the car in front because the traffic is crawling and its not wide enough to filter) after a second or two of indicating she decides to move over so I wack on my horn, she then looks at me and continues to basicallly push me into a bus lane where I nearly get hit by a taxi.
I followed her for a second or two and then give her shiny new cage a nice big dent with my armoured hein gerickes in the passenger door.
This is the second time this has happened this week on the same road in London, both times resulted in big dent.
I feel bad for doing this and I can understand that people make mistakes, but both times both drivers where very aware that I was there and decided to try and push me out the way anyway with no respect for me or my property, so f*ck em anyway.
What would you do?

In heavy traffic heaven for fend that people want to change lanes. The fact that you were aware of the car and despite indicating you fail to give way to prevent a situation that could compromise your safety and then you kick the car. Are you sure that she was wrong?

Define 'very close'? So close that if the car ahead suddenly stops or reverses, you'll hit it or it'll hit you?

Try to leave enough of a gap for you to react to anything ahead, and be more courteous.

Sure, the woman was in the wrong, but the situation would have been avoided if you'd given way to somebody bigger than you... Wink

You've just got to hope now that nobody got your plate...

So despite that fact that you sit in the wrong lane intentionally to get ahead in the traffic and then use your vehicle to physically push me into the path of another car, you would then light me on fire, you t*at. Middle Finger

Maybe Half a metre away, traffic was doing maybe 5-10 mph, central London gridlock.

I wonder what she told her husband?

Woman, There is this guy I see on a bike every night.
He kicked in my door tonight.
Her Man, OK pet. I'll pick you up from work tomorrow, and I'll have a wee wurd with him if we see him.

I would've let her in.
But not if it was a taxi. I am a lot of things, but soft is not one of them.

It amazing how you can be in the wrong for failing to let someone in, who has got in the worng lane... Most likely because that one was going faster than the one she knew she should be in.
If you are in the wrong lane and can't move over safely then you stay in the wrong lane and go round....

If she was pushing you over, you either give way, or battle it out. Your choice as its your body on the line. If you are going to battle it out then lean/move towards her and don't give way. She will stop as you over her bonnet will not get her home on time.

Just pointing out that the consequences could of been much worse. If you believe that a bike can beat a car in that situation then you are most defiantely a twat.

Its now not only the driver involved but those that saw the incident that are now convinced that bike riders are all inconsiderate fools that will maliciously cause damage to their lovely car if you upset them.

I generally tend to let them pull in then just ride around them to a couple of cars in front.

I've had similar situations in London and my reaction in your case would have been to simply stop completely (if she's trying to push you out of the way she then has to stop or else deliberately hit you), lift my visor and ask very loudly what the hell she thinks she's doing.

I've done this twice, once even in fairly (15mph) quick moving traffic.
The first time the offender refused to wind window down to discuss and gestured for me to move on and then kept well away from me when I did.

The second time the guy wound his window down looking like he was about to hurl abuse but I got in first with a very loud "Why are you trying to kill me?".
He then looked completely bemused, wound his window up and shot off down a side street.

Not reccomended in fast traffic of course, you don't want to stop there. But if it's pretty slow, stopping completely is the last thing they expect you to do (make sure they have actually seen you and won't hit you obviously!). It embarrasses them, especially if you shout.

A friend of mine even got off the bike, calmly put it on it's stand and walked to the car window to discuss. The driver refused to even acknowledge he was there and just stared straight ahead until he gave up, got back on and rode off. (Heavy traffic, so car couldn't move off with bike in the way.)

Don't think damaging people's cars is a good idea. Asking for trouble.

In my opinion she wont purposely physically push you out the way, if she knows your there (Obviously with the horn and eye contact etc) then you can just sit there looking pretty and you'll be fine. Let her try and intimidate you all she wants she cant actually follow through cause thats illegal and she is 100% going to get caught (witnesses, numberplate, fact she cant go anywhere!)

As for her being in wrong lane, yes its annoying when people do it purposely but not annoying enough for me personally to care. But equally sometimes i am in the wrong lane through not realising the setup of an unfamiliar road and only realise when i see the white arrows and then i hope someone will be chilled out enough to move over.

Peace and Love man, let her in and some other helpful soul will do their part for you Karma

I can see why you did kick the door, but if I was in the car and someone did that to me, I would have a strong urge to get out and push you off you bike (pretty easy to do I'm sure, and will cause you and your bike damage). Try what someone said about stopping in a post above Thumbs Up

I did a similar thing to a chav in a peugot who pulled out right in front of me.
However even though he was a complete tosser with his bass thumping and baseball cap on the wrong way it was wrong of me to damage his car even though it did make me feel better for a while.

The next incident i dealt with in a totally different manner.
Riding over a bridge with 2 lanes one direction 1 the other i was filtering through when i stopped just in front and to the side of bmw estate. Put both feet down as couldn't move when he pulls forward to close the 1.5 metre gap down to 0.5 metres and i feel his tyre roll down the side of my foot which i quickly pulled out the way.
This time i calmly tapped on his window and when he rolled it down asked him for his insurance details for driving without due care and attention Very Happy . Bloke started going off on one about bikes being banned because we are dangerous and should be done for filtering blah blah.
Just as he's blathering on another biker who must have been behind and saw what happened walks up and loudly says "Saw the whole thing mate are you alright and i'll be a witness." The driver did an impression of a goldfish gulping air and promptly shut up.
I thanked the other biker and we shadowed the bmw for another few hundred yards till the traffic cleared. He just looked straight ahead all the time.
