 |
|
A bit of wind has turned my latest bike cover into about seven smaller bike covers and doesn't really do the job I was hoping it would do anymore.
I had a look around for something to replace it with and a local shop has the Oxford Aquatex for about £20. It just looks like the thing I'm replacing really and I worked out that this is my third cover in three years so I will have spent about £60 in total on crap. I thought I'd look for something better.
I have seen the Stormex and the Held art thing and they are supposed to be the 'better' type of cover but I read reports about the Stormex soaking up any water within a 3 mile radius with it's ultra spongy lining.
I read about the 'Classic Additions' covers which appear to be made for each bike. Cost £55 + £7 postage. That's a pretty hefty price for a sheet of plastic and it would have to last three years to be worth buying over one of the pieces of crap I have previously had.
I know TobyR talked about buying one a while ago but I don't remember reading about how it has held up? Any opinions on these things? They look ok from the pictures (as good as a picture of a bike cover can look It's such an exciting subject ). If you guys say its worth it then I'll probably go for it and if it's not... well I'll still have written the longest and most boring post on the subject of bike covers ever.
Cheers for any help. |

I've got the Classic Additions one and rate it.
It has got a 'heat shield' panel at the back to stop the exhausts burning the cover, a soft lining that dries quickly ad has bungee hooks to stop the wind getting under it as well as a strap that goes under the bike.
It is the only cover I have had so can't compare to it to any others but it is really well made, has held up well for 6 months [no signs of wear and tear]. It is expensive for what it is, as it is essentially a piece of plastic but I am happy with mine. ____________________ My Bikes: Piaggio NRG| Aprilia RS 125| Suzuki GSX-R 600|Yamaha Fazer Ducati 848
