Hi there,
I'm currently trying to source a left hand switchgear set for my '02 blade. As you can imagine I've tried breakers yards, and David silver etc and not had much luck.
David silver have quoted me a price, but its £90 inc delivery .
I mean, £90 for three switches and a bit of plastic? How do these people sleep at night? They said that honda would charge me £85 ex vat and delivery and their discount cound get it for me for £79 ex vat and delivery.
So David silvers aren't making a bomb on it I'd guess, but Honda?? It makes my blood boil. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Very industrious of you, but they are all from pre 2000 bikes, and I need one for a 2002. If you can tell me for 100% certain that they are the same, then I'll buy one. Certainly that last one is different as it only has high and dipped beam, whereas my bike has sidelights, dipped and high beam positions on the switch.
The First one looks similar, but I can't be sure the connectors are the same, and I'm not going to tart about resoldering them. Not to mention the locating pegs on the bar...
Sorry, that probably came out a bit harsher than I intended, but I've just crashed my lovely new bike and aren't in a very charitable mood! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

No worries
Just saw them and thought of you.
No idea if they will fit or not. As a couple of them are breakers try giving them a ring or drop them a question to see if they know ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

I've done all the free part searches on the web. I need to do a pay one now ( as they claim to contact more breakers!)
Or I need to call David Silvers and cough up. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

At the end of the day you're probably better off coughing up for the new part as 2nd hand parts may have an unknown history or are broke anyways.
Or you could buy another 02 blade and break it for parts |

Yeah MarJay, loosen those purse strings you tight bastard. So you bin your bike on the day you bought it - who cares? Just sack it off, let it rot in your garage and go and buy a 2008 blade.
Jeez, its only money. |

Now I remember why I set you to enemy you little...
One day, you'll damage a bike, or one will get stolen or something and then you'll understand what I'm going through.
Unlike you I don't have infinite money, and I strongly think that £90 for a few switches is a bit overpriced. I have a mortgage to pay etc and so I don't think that I can be lectured by a know-all-know-nothing 19 year old like you. |
I dont have infinate money and i have done £1000 worth of damage to a bike in 2 crashes, stop moaning like a bitch and get it sorted, if you cant afford to fix it then try harder or put more effort in at work or towards saving. Theres ways and means to alot of things in life mate, buy a cheap one off ebay or wait till one pops up or haggle at a breakers for fuck sake. Crying on here wont get it fixed will it? ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

Now thats taking the piss...
Any way, heres a thought, get the part number and see if you can cross reference it from a different bike, i can use a wide range of parts for my FZR off alot of bikes, as most bikes use the same parts etc.
Get the part number and find one of a shitter less sought after part from a common bike, the price then being lower. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

I've just spoken to my parts man at the local Honda dealer, the part is unique to that bike
£81 is the cheapest he could manage. |

They are a generational shop in Leeds and they have an online shop. They might be able to help. |

As lonewolf suggests - might be worth looking at bodging a different one on. You can get some pretty professional looking loom-clips you could use.
Personally, as I said before, I'd just get one of these.
