Hey people,

Today I feel a bit sick of Uni, not sure why, just one of those days.

Anyway, okay okay so the pissups of the first year glory-days were fun, but is anyone else sick of being broke and even worse, having too much time on their hands?

All I can think about is bikes at the moment. I'm 22 and feel sick of being fucking educated and all I want to do is go on a massive ride out.

Rar! haha!

Rich

Far too much time. I've run out of places to go on the internet!

I don't even drink any more so that doesn't pass the time, all I've got is weed to keep me entertained, and it would seem the entirity of Stoke is dry! Rolling Eyes

Part of me wants to screw it and get a job, but the thought of wasting all that money, and having to actually get up every day, is far too daunting. Shocked

Ahhh the old maryjane. Gave that up after smoking daily from about 18 to 20. Ahhh good times, but I couldn't motivate myself to do pursue any other hobbies as being stoned each night was plenty fun enough. Won't lie tho. still crave the odd joint every now and again.

Aye, that's it. It's 3:30pm and i'm sat in my bedroom, having not left the house, constantly clicking 'Refresh' on BCF and Facebook in the hope that someone has wrote me or replied.

How come you've quit alcohol? It's my lifeline, even if it does mean the innevitable hungover lecture and beerbelly.

You've got a point.....I once worked at the local council before I went to Uni. 9-5 each day, piss easy but my god it was a shitty dull existence.

It wasn't a conscious decision and I'm not intentionally staying away from it, I just don't really enjoy it any more. I drank a fair bit last year and it would be a case of spending £20 on a night out, stumbling home feeling sick, and having no money for food for the next week! I just decided it wasn't worth it, so the only time I've been drunk since September is Christmas Day, and I've had a pint on various occasions.

It's one vice to another though, if it was consistently available I'd be getting through a Q a week.

Same on the job front, I had a well-paying job over summer - when my arm wasn't casted - but after a few weeks of it I wanted to scratch my eyes out.

I find uni well good, engineering is far too work intensive and i have recently cut my weed consumptions as was a daily smoker as well, try to keep it to 1-2 times a week now which still isnt great but oh well.

I find there is always stuff to do but can get a bit mundane, for example we had 4 exams January and 3 day break and started lectures for the summer ones, just seems never ending.

I really really like Uni, looking forward to graduating and having a bit more money though...Im not scared of work but I am definately scared of the routine-ness of 5 days a week work...Decided to do another year and get my masters out of the way so half of 2009 will be another skint year for me...The first couple of years was stupidly busy for me in uni... I had 25hrs of lectures a week and labs and courseworks and bla bla... Actually didnt have time to hold a PT job. But now... Im in my 3rd year and Im only in 10-15hrs a week, do work PT 2 nights a week and do German nightschool on Mondays. So my weeks not too empty, and got a shedload of work to do + an individual project and the report to go with it... I have amaizing friends and sort of happy about my life... kinda stopped going clubbing every bloody week as I find pubs/bars are far nicer to have a good chat and a laugh in compared to clubs. I also like Manchester a lot, every band I can think of come here and I like my gigs. Bla bla bla bla bla bla.....

yeah totally agree..it should be 2 week off.. exams.. 2 week hols. instaed of the 1 month mega holiday including xmas and new years. In my 2nd year 1st sem I had 7 fking exams... I literally had brain spasms revising for them... this year I had 4 though... never experienced it before... sad but I enjoyed 4 exams

On a year internship at the moment, but I loved uni.
I lived in a house with 5 people that I loved spending time with. You know where you are happy to just be with each other, even if you're not doing owt. We just got on well and smoked up a bit and drank a bit and went out and we all know everyone elses mates.

I go to a smaller uni than most. Its got a about 7000 students, but I'd say about 1,500 in each year due to postgrads, placement students etc, so everyone recognises each other (apart from those that just stay in their houses all day long).

Cannot wait to go back at all! Having this year in work has made me appreciate the past 2 years so much and made me want to definitely make the most out of my final year!

But then I know people who really hate it too. Just try and get some friends that you are comfortable with. It sounds weird, but its like we were all 'boyfriends and girlfriends' (sometimes in more ways than one, too Wink ). You know where you can share anything with and don't have to try and impress each other and always be entertained. Each others company was entertainment in itself Thumbs Up

The annoying thing here is that I have two nice friendly dealers who always give nice scores, you don't ever get screwed. But they use the same guy who visits all the campus dealers with a backpack full of a few pounds of grass every week or so, so we're dry for a few days or more, and then I get texts within half an hour of eachother saying they've got some! Brick Wall

I do try to stock up, buy a 1/4 or a 1/2 at a time, but when it's in front of me it goes very quickly! I've been known to smoke 15 biffs in a session. Embarassed

That's no good, it's an unwritten law in our house that I keep hold of the biff, I get grouchy without my bedtime and bathtime biffs. Razz

Over the past 3 days I have scraped my grinders 3 times, each time managing a just serviceable biff, and then realised I was getting to the point of 'junkie licking the carpet', and decided I need some time off. Laughing

I should have 3 day breaks more. My housemate just got back with a 20 bag, and I'm mashed off one biff of average weed. Very Happy Laughing

How did I turn this into a topic about drugs?

Uni's fun, but reading week is boring when everyone is at home and you still have lectures.. Neutral

Reading week, as in what you do with books. Not the place. Confused

On the Uni Front, they keep firing out Essays every couple of weeks, got one due friday and then the following wednesday...

The annoying thing is, it keeps me busy enough that i cant hold down a full time job, but not so busy i dont get bored...

I was couriering last year but that was 50+ hours a week + uni, it was great financially but my i couldent handle that much, so this year im living between student loan payments (whens the next one.. april... bah)

I know what you guys mean about too much time to sit around smoking, i just got back from amsterdam, so i got enough bud to last me a month, i also have the choice of 5 different strains. Standard London mersh, NYC Diesel, Mexican Haze, AK47 and i think Bubblegum,

I always wonder what you guys smoke outside london, all i have been offered is that 'orrible soapbar crap, i would rather not smoke tbh...

So pretty much for the next month its gonna be daily smoking, trying to survive on 15 pound a week shopping, getting owned a pro evo constantly and riding when i can afford a spare tank of petrol... and when something isnt bloody falling off the bike..

You have too much time? I dont seem to have enough, and I'm a first year.

Already bored of the uni lifestyle, I cant see the point of spending lots of money on making me forget what I've done/ where I've been/ who I was with. And I can only tolerate most clubs if I don't know what I'm doing, so I spend lots. So I dont bother any more, I'll have a few quiet beers with me mates and that's it. Cant be arsed to get into drugs, again, cant see the point. Done weed a few times and yeah, it's great, but there's things I'd rather spend my money on that last a bit longer.

Like motorbikes. Everything I have pretty much has been paid for by me in terms of cars/ hobby stuff, so it's all done on a budget. But working on the bikes and stuff is great fun and a far better use of my money in my opinion.

Oh, and everything else is great- the people, the place, I like my course, love living by meself etc. Just fed up of the idea that 'cos I'm a student I'm supposed to spend all morning in bed and all night pissing my loan up the wall.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing I lost some beer to that.

Anyway on topic, uni's great fun, it seems to be a good transition between living at home and moving on out into the real world, I really only spend like.. what 7 months out of a year in this place? Rest of it I get at home, so it's like having two lives.

I've already made some very good mates here and I'm enjoying it a lot and I've spent a hell of a lot more money than I care to think about (which is impressive seeing as I can get £3k a year max).

But uni's brilliant, I love it here, I love my course, I made the right choice and I'm gonna see it through till the end.

I'm so glad I'm not in a 9-5 right now, I'm to young to do that.

The thing is though you'll only miss the life style once it is over, ie most of you guys will be corporate wage slaves 9-5 if you are lucky (everywhere else I worked wanted 8-6). especially if any of you are in a profession like engineering, law etc as to get qualified you have to work for somebody else for a few years first.

Also if you are more ambitious and setup your own company related or not to your degree you have to work even harder.

I'm starting to get memory laspe due to 9-5ism , days all seem so familiar with no landmarks to form memories in my mind that days weeks and months seem to fly by, and I keep looking forward to the 4 odd weeks in summer when I get to go touring.

It all really ends up as to what you are doing.. And if I get to do anything similar to what I'm doing right now.. I'm gonna really enjoy it. I spend a lot of time (including my free time) working on projects I've got going, but it rarely feels like work. If I'm doing this in the real world, and even if I am working 8-6 (which tbh I doubt will happen) then I think I'm probably going to enjoy it (for a while anyway I'm sure I'll become very cynical after a while but hey).
