Not sure if this belongs here.
I am looking for health insurance but know nothing about it, I have asked a firm about a family plan, and they are going to get back to me.
https://www.healthinsurancegroup.co.uk/
But in the mean time, does anybody have health insurance?
What sort of money does it cost?
What sort of things are you covered for?
Does having it automatically mean you can use private hospitals?
Sorry if these questions seem daft, but I have never known anybody with health insurance, or at least never known about it.
Thanks in advance.

Slightly offtopic, but do you already have a good life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection and pension plan? I my opinion, money spent on these is worth more than that spent on medical insurance in the UK. The NHS, despite all its flaws, still provides the best free and comprehensive health service in the world. For every horror story you read in the papers or on forums, there are thousands of people getting a very decent service from the NHS, who do not shout about it from the rooftops. Also, you can now choose which hospital you want to go to, rather than be forced to go to where is cheapest for the insurance company. Just my . ____________________ Everyone who lives dies, yet not everyone who dies has lived. We take these risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping us. |

Norwich Union for life insurance. Excellent cover and normally quite cheap premium, includes termincal illness cover which is slightly different than critical illness cover but only slightly. I pay £8 per month for a sum of £125k to be paid to my next of kin on death or to me if i become terminally ill. Policy is in force until 2028 with no change in premium.
Also have mortgage payment insurance which pays out £675 per month should i get sick, suffer an accident or become unemployed and unable to pay my mortage. This is through https://www.britishinsurance.com/ and costs me £11 a month.
The premium goes up the older and more of a risk you become.
