4. Their skin tight-kevlar-ballistic-nylon-kangaroo-leather suits prevent any position other than fetal.

2. It's too hard to do one-handed stoppies.
1. They were too busy slipping their flip-flop back on.

Eh? is it only "real" bikers that wave to you? Any one who don't wave is a pretend biker?

Waving IS for queers, most people nod, but nodding is for queers too, I salute like Rimmer from Red Dwarf.

Top ten reasons Newbies don't wave

10; every time they do the bike slows down.
9; fingers locked and cramped in place.
8; the don't see you because the inside of the visor is fogged up.
7; the don't see you because they are 6 inches away form the caravan in front.
6. it is against the law and their instructor scared them so much they have nightmares about him.
5. they are trapped in a bubble of "cool" even on an ER5.
4. they are afraid you may be coming on to them and waving is biker prelude to being done up the gary.
3. they (like 20% of the biker population) are miserable knuts.
2. their hands are so cold they have frostbite and can't move.
1. they would fall of and die, or at least ruin their new leather jacket.

Ten Reasons why Chavs on Peds don't wave back

10. They only do complicate finger clicking, fist banging hand signs. Like Shaft, except they are skinny, un-cool and white.
9. The are so stoned they think they can do telepathic waves.
8. They don't see you cos they are looking at their 15 year old girlfirends pushing the pram with their twin kids in.
6. (missing 7 cos they can't do maths) It is only the downward pressure of both hands that is keeping the handle bars attached to the ped, plus a bit of (thier mums boyfriend's) gaffa tape.
5. Scurvy from to many pop-tarts, kebabs and chips means they have no upper body strenght.
4. The speedo says they are doing 74 MPH and they better hold on.
3. Cos that hand is used only to pull the helmet down if plod are seen.
2. cc envy makes them bitter.
1. cos, if u dnt ride a ped u r a wnkr.

Sorry all, I seem to have touched a nerve here.

First I was including nods etc with waves 'cause I didn't think they were different. Bikers acknowledging each other on the road are never gay for doing it. Waving (raising a hand) has been around in UK for at least 20 years so I dunno how that makes it American!

& the street racer comment was purely a personal observation, not aimed at everyone. Soz.

They are normally people saying ta for letting them past, why is it dangerous? do your feet keep you upright when on the move then?

It just surprised me a bit at first, as a newbie biker, as I hadn't seen it before, and was paranoid his leg would be knocked off by a car...but soon realised this to be the norm.....

I have never been waved at by any bikers on the road though
