Is the anchor attached to the crane end in that picture?

If so, why are they not showing it?

Proves nothing at all. Thumbs Up You could bolt crop the chain being used to lift it so wheres the proof the anchor is any stronger?

I got it with an Almax Series 3 immobiliser. Get some bolt croppers and try steal my bike, I'll give you a five minute headstart. Smile

N30, if you want to get an Almax just get one straight away, I feel that £40 spent on that would be a waste of money really as those chains are like cheese.

Laughing

I'm not saying they are no good, just that lifting a truck with one is no test of how good it is against bolt croppers.

I used a towing loop off the back of a Shogun as an anchor as it didnt cost me anything. I reckon that would lift a truck but I wouldnt put any money on it not being cut in next to no time. Thumbs Up

The anchor itself is a chunky square shape, would definitely need to be taken apart with a angle grinder or other noisy implement. All that whilst my alarm blares.

Just like to be on the safe side s'all. Laughing

Hanging a truck from it just proves it has high tensile strength, which for securing a bike is extremely irrelevant as that's not a method that could or would be used to break it. And as said, it doesn't even show it in the picture anyway so it's probably not even real.

Just get a thick steel loop, doesn't have to specifically be a ground anchor and concrete it in. As for chains, if you've got a big enough hole in your bike to thread it through, use some mooring chain, like to see them boltcrop that.

I had this put in around 18 months ago and no problems with it so far. It takes a fair size of chain and once the chain's through the loop you can't lift the cover disc to get at the bolts. The bolts expand when you screw them into the hole in the concrete (with an allen key of sorts) and it comes with ball bearings to hammer into into the holes in the top of the bolts. So unless I want to take a sledge hammer to it, it's there for good!

As much as you are probably correct I can clearly see it in the picture, the other reason I bought it is because Almax were the ones that sold me it and I don't think they would sell shit anchors with their chains, to be quite honest.

I got my Abus WBA 100 Granit from ebay for the bargain price of £25.

Feels really solid and nobody has stolen my bike (not that they have tried), i'd have no trouble recommending it

ive not got a picture of mine but when i was poring my concrete base i went to my local diy store and bought some 50mm plastic pipe and 4 90 degree bends like thesehttps://www.screwfix.co.uk/prods/92756/Plumbing/Solvent-Weld-Waste/FloPlast-92-5º-Bend-White-40mm

out of the pipe i made 2 U shapes which i then buried in the concrete at the correct spacing of my front and back wheel, once the concrete had set i trimmed of the 2 tails that where sticking above floor level and fed through my chains , so all i need to do is roll the bike into position and padlock the chains through the wheels.

obviosly this idea isnt practical if you have already poured your concrete but as you have stated you will be doing yours soon this should work fine for you and believe me it isnt easy stealing a bike from this method without making alot of noise. and you dont have to spend fortunes on the anchors you see in the shops

hope this helps

My bike lives at the front of the house on the driveway. I originally had a bolt in (non approved) wall mounted Oxford Products anchor which I secured to the front wall of my house. This sufficed, but didn't seem hugely sturdy, it was a while ago, but i think i only paid £15 or so from ebay for it Confused

Having had central heating installed my old bike parking spot was no longer viable due to the meter location so I laid a 2 rows of 5 paving slabs in the gravel at the front of the house and next to the back wheel dug a hole and with the aid of a bag of B&Q post fix concreted in an Oxford Products Terraforce anchor which i got for £33 from ebay a few weeks ago. Seriously impressed with its strength and weigh and also has a gold Sold Secure rating. Pretty good value and recommended for an outlay of about £36. Smile

<offtopic> Why? I'm genuinely interested. Isn't it better to have one "ground anchor" thread? That seems a lot more useful to me than many separate threads about the same subject... </offtopic>

Smash the brick that the ground anchor is attached to into pieces with a sledge hammer or alike and take whatever remains with the bike and put it in a van. Sounds like the flaw in the security would be the driveway itself.

No walls around you could use?
