Tbh mate, shit happens. Not a lot you can really do, bike bays are for bikes, they provide them so you should use them. If they aren't secure and that, then theres nothing you can do... I wouldn't like it myself.
Aside from that, nail could have come from anywhere. Not like you can source the exact builder that dropped said nail. Get a better college. I'll get some pics tomo like I said in another thread about the parking at mine. Its excellent.

I doubt you will ever see a penny for the nail, shit indeed does happen
As to the guy, always question authority, who was he, what right did he have to tellk you to do anything?,
Im at uni and the bike bays are miles from lecutre halls, i just park next to the bicycles in their spots around campus... no one has said anything and if they did they better have some kind of court order or ASBO with them lol....
That is unless he was being perfectly polite and asking something you feel is reasonable, if that was the case, which it doesent sound like, then by all means... |

i am pretty positive they will have a disclaimer saying any damage done to your vehicle is not their problem etc etc etc.
maybe you could argue from a health and safety point of view as they have a right to try and keep you safe whilst you are in their care.
but my monies on, feck off |

Old Thread Alert!
