Ok, I've been doing some research, and well, not having huge successes in finding out what I want to know
Is it feasible to buy a 2nd hand bike, over 500cc for around the £600 mark - something that isn't going to go tits up after 50 miles?
I don't want style, or pristine. I want something that will just get me from A to B faster than my 125!
Oh, no sports - something like my CG, just bigger would be ideal (I'm slightly disabled, and I cannot feel stable on anything you lean forwards).
Or am I living the impossible dream? lol |

Hey.
You should be able to get more than £600 for your CG surely? I paid £750 for a 6 year old CLR with 8k on the clock. (That was 2 years ago, I still have it...)
It now has over 20k under its, erm, wheels and I'd expect to get around £600 for it. 125's keep their value pretty well.
Not an expert here but I'd have thought you'd get atleast £800 for it. There's a private 06 CG on autotrader with 1.6k miles in at £1400, 04 models are all around 1K with a higher mileage than your one.

Thanks for the replies guys.
THe price for the CG could be higher I guess. And I am hoping to part with it within the summer months, so maybe I could get a good price for it. (and, other than needing a clean, it's still utterly pristine )
It's reassuring to see there are still bikes out there that won't bankrupt me, obviously I would love to just go out and buy a Goldwing or something else with built in microwave and kettle (!), but I will have to start off old and work on up.
Still, gotta pass the test first.. On a side note, how long would be reasonable to attempt a DAS? I know you can do it immediately, but seeing as it took me a couple of weeks to figure out the clutch - is it worth me using the 125 for a few more months, or just attempt it asap? |

Shop around. my dad got an absolutely mint FZR750 from a bloke who fixes rollers and bentleys, just didn't have the time to ride all his bikes.
