I utterly hate doing fork seals , and my NTV ones are looking decidedly dodgy...

also might need some stanchions as one of them is rotting pretty badly.

So I thought of the Hassock front end....which needs no fork seals per se,.

I thought hold on , on ebay I can get REAR shocks for £50 a pop off CBR600RRs , so in my mind I've imagined replacing the stanchions with 2 CBR600RR rear shocks, with my NTV as a test bed anybody actually any ideas on how to secure it? as rear shocks have bearings at the top and bottom which mean you can't just stick a solid piece of steel into them as your forks will rotate. Or has anybody actually done this?.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

a hossock system is the same as whats on the britten or alot of the bmw bikes
solid forks that dont move but connected to a pivot with either 1 or 2 shocks, the benifit is that both forks move at the same rate and the wheel always stays centered to the bike, unlike normal forks is you have a oil leak or a stuffed spring they can move at different rate, and the only think keeping the wheel center is the axle

yeah, it wouldn't work, the rear shock is set for forces that are very different from the front. The hossock setup normally works by having levers on the frame and the shock controls their action, like a swinging arm for the front, thus a similar shock can be used so you would need to replicate this, the amount of travel on a rear shock is small as it normally works on the swinging arm acting as a lever so the travel is reduced proportationally. would maybe suggest changing the forks to different ones if you want to improve it... yokes can be made but beware of changing the geometry of the bike to much!

We old boys always knew that telescopic forks were a fad and girders would come back as the fork of choice. Mr. Green
