To start it you can hold either brakes and press the button.

Bets thing to do is put the bike completely back together and then start fixing the problems. If the starter motor doesn't work after you've put it back together, that's the time to replace it.

Souns like something is wired up wrong then. As if you had wired the starter button to the oil light Confused

The oil light should come on when you turn the ignition on and turn off when you start the bike up.

Agreed. The Speedfight isnt bad at all. I had 4 of them. Thumbs Up

Sounds like you have a dead relay if its firing up when you short the two terminals across and bypass the relay.

Failing that, You have a pair of broken brake light switches.

Does your brake light come on when you pull either of the levers?
If the brake light doesn't come on, then obviously the brake light switches don't work, Meaning it wont start, as the brakes need to be applied (either one) to engage the starter motor.

Also IIRC, the Starter motor uses its fixings on the scooter as an earth, So it wont work unless it is bolted to the bike I don't think.

all the wiring is disconnected as the bike it in bits and plastics everywhere lol.
so i have to have the brake lights hooked up to get it going....
so relay still might be fine??
