You have to be very very careful where you ride. With recent changes in legislation and the powers police have to prosecute you and confiscate your bike, you must ensure that you are riding legal byways.
Have a look here....

streetmap.co.uk show byways.
OS Landranger are the maps you want, big branches of Smiths sell them, bookshops have them, and OS sell them on their website. On all of my Landranger maps I've marked byways with green highlighter to make it easier to see where they are. Takes a bit of time for each map but makes it much easier when you're out somewhere wondering which direction to go next. |

That's a bridleway. You can ride along Butthole Lane which is a byway and then it goes to bridleway, you can't go on bridleways. The green circles mean its part of the national cycle network so it wouldn't be a good place to go.
Butthole Lane. |

www.wetroads.co.uk is a useful site for finding interesting places near you.
Other than that, OS maps and a green highlighter is the way to go. |

Buy an OS map and look for -+-+-+-+-+-+-+
That is a Byway open to all traffic. There is nothing like that on the map snippet you posted, you'll need to go further afield... ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |
