I can only manage about 10 minutes on my bike before my right thumb starts throbbing and I don't know why. I have got proppa bike gloves and and I keeping my hands in the position expected to ride a bike. Has anyone got any ideas what is causing this pain? It only hurts when I am on the bike. Is there such a thing as "Bikers thumb"?

Your probably holding the bar too tight, relax and see if it makes a difference.

If not, make sure your bar ends and switchgear etc is on properly tight, as it'll vibrate otherwise which could cause your thumb numbness

I get that when I haven't ridden for a while, much like clutch ache. Goes away the more you do it.

how long have you been riding? if not long then its probably just your body not being used to riding.
its the same as when you go from a bike with clip on bars to a bike with upright straight bars your arms hurt til there used to the new riding position!

Hi

How big are your hands? If you have small hands then it is more of a stretch. Fitting some aftermarket grips can make this a problem for me. Also maybe try some light weight summer gloves and see if that improves things (well, other than the cold making your hands numb so you cannot feel the pain).

All the best

Keith

Arrrgh, Clutch Ache, got that while I was going through my DA, it was most annoying while waiting at traffic lights one evening while some dipshit in a Ford Granada decided to barge past the three of us because he wanted to be at the front of the queue. Nice Rolling Eyes

Pleased it goes away when you do more riding though, when I finally get a bike I'll know it shouldn't last long! Smile
