ZX6R 2005 Exhaust problems

I brought a scorpion exhaust about 6 months ago and its been fine intill recently. Were the two link pipes meet ( see picture) they keep coming apart from each other how ever tight i tighten the clamp. Is there anything i can do to stop this from happening which dont involve pop rivet or welding incase i ever decide to change the exhaust over.

Have you tried using a threadlock on it? I don't know if the heat from the exhaust would affect if though...

Its not the clamp whats coming loose that still stays tight but the exhaust still slides out, there dont seem to be any movement when its pushed all the way in either so it seems like a good fit. Someone i work with said that it might be once the exhaust gets hot and the metel expands it might be pushing it self out.

Was there a gasket in there before? I had a gasket fall apart and get blown out of mine but in a join underneath the engine.

Nope i dont think there was, when i brought the exhaust i got the pipe which curves under the seat and then that slotted into the original pipes with just a clamp to hold them together, it lasted alright through winter and wasnt into last month this started happening.

Try and get some exhaust paste / exhaust silicone. This works at high temperatures and selas the gap. It sets hard too. I think its called firegun or something like that. Its in a tube rather than a tub though.

Should be able to get some from halfords.

Will also stop any leaks.

It tells you to remove the gasket when fitting the scorpion can anyway if i remember right.

I decided to get it tack welded in the end cost me £20 lets hope it works

bit off topic but in that picture, is that a restrictor that you can turn on and off?

oh right. I might use that idea to make a restrictor so that when im not on the roads Wink

i can derestrict easily.
