I have 10+ years and would love it if anyone knows an insurer that will give me some discount because of it.

Plus on the MCE form on he page labelled "Riding Record" it asks for any convictions - now I have 3 points for motorway speeding, but this was in a car so should not be filled in on a page saying riding record" thoughts?

Finally when filling out the forms, have I technically held my provisional licence for 12 years as I believe when I got my car licence I got the provisional motorbike entitlement?

Try ebike, churchill or tescos. Can always get an ebike 'pay as you go' policy for a month, cancel it then you have 'bike' no claims you can use elsewhere.

I thought they always asked for complete years no claims - I've got 6months NCD on my current 125cc policy but you can't stick in 0.5months on most of these forms

I think what he is trying to say is use your 10+ years car no claims and put it on a bike policy, cancel the policy and then you have 10+ years bike no claims.

Well I'm totally confused now - surely you can't transfer no claims from car to bike?? even doing a 1 month "switchero"

H&R ask how many years NCB you have, although its not used its taken into consideration. made a fair bit of difference on my quote.

I thought transferring them over is what you wanted to do? G said go to one of the insurers that accepts car NCB on a bike, take a pay monthly policy out, cancel it after a month and you will get whatever you get when you cancel a policy and it will have your no claims on it. This can then be used with any bike insurer.

Just cos you can drive doesn't mean you can ride.

I was in the same situation as you , but I had to start again.

Expect a big drop after 1st years no claims, mine halved.

Sorry my fault for not being clear - I want them to take it into consideration and lower my quote rather than actually transfer the NCD
- can't transfer it as I still drive the car and premium would go way up without NCD

Trouble I have with it is that my CAR speeding conviction still counts.

Doesn't mean I'll (get caught) speeding on a bike does it.... Wink

Update - Got a quote from Ebike, fully comp, non-garaged, no extra security, 3 points for speeding, on a Hyosung GT6500R - £497

That sounds quite good considering?

The points are on the licence you hold, which covers you for car/bike + any other you have passed for.
Therefore you need to declare them. Failure to do so could result in ins being withdrawn if/when they find out. That then will make getting ins a lot harder/expensive as you will have to advise of any withdrawn/declines ins policies.

If only they did take previous no claims as a guide many of us would be fine... 20+ years with no claims on both bike and car, but can only have recent 1 year ncb on bike as other 8 years are too long ago.....

Or you could always get an SV650s for £1500 and go TPFT which should be a lot cheaper and leave you with a probably better bike too Smile.

A small number of insurance companies will take into account that you have no claims on another vehicle which you can't use, but most can't.

In some cases it can be beneficial to transfer it over as I was suggesting, but generally going from a bike to a car, not the other way around.

them: "got any convictions?"
me" yes one sp30 but its from the car so it don't count!"

I just had a car insurance using a no claims from a bike for 1 week 4 days, and my Insurers 'CIS' will now not send me my original no claims back, think I would be better off speaking to Honda whom I had the original policy with and getting them to send a bike no claims cert!
