PostPosted: 19:24 - 24 Feb 2004    Post subject: Honda Dealers 2: The Boss calls Reply with quote

Some of you might of read my post "Honda Dealers" and my trip to them on Friday.
Well I’ve just had a phone call from the director of Grantham Honda (the dealership in question) asking what he could do to get me to have the bike. He has said that he will throw in the ristricter kit, and fit a Datatool System 3 for £200.
The bike is a 03 Reg Yellow Honda Hornet, 3000miles. Priced at £4299.The bike currently has no tax.
He is giving me the original £1000 trade-in on my 02 reg @125.
Is this a good deal? Why are they pushing so hard to sell this bike? Can I get more out of them?
J

Yes you'll be able to get more out of them

A Datatool System 3 will cost you about £300 to buy and fitted, but you can buy better alarms for less. And do you want the alarm for insurance purposes? If not, buy a cheap *really* loud one as the more chance you have of hearing it the better. No one else will do anything if they hear a bike car alarm off anymore.

Restrictor kit costs them £140 assuming it is an FI International one, and not a Honda CDI restriction, which will cost them fuck all to get.

Tax is £45, but thats £45 outta your pocket.

Your NSR is worth more than £1,000 unless you have really fucked it. Danny sold his '01 UK NSR125 with a few minor cosmetic marks (nothing major, think it was just the exhaust) for £1800. That was a good price, but yours is newer etc.

I'd sell the NSR prviatly, and offer £3800 for it with the tax, then haggle to not more than 4k, and a free service.

My bike isnt a NSR. its a @125. Only paid £1600 for it 18months ago.
The fu*kwit i spoke to the otherday said that its a FI one. w/ cetificate for the insurance company.
Thanks i think i'll try 38.

Its been replaced by the Dylan. Its a fat, ugly, sliver (well kinda mud coloured after today) 4 stroke scooter.
but it does do 120miles on 3 quid of petrol!

Seems abit pricey to me.

Im paying 4,400 for a new UK 03 Hornet on an 04 plate. No idea on the price he's offered for your NSR, but its a dealer so i wouldnt be suprised if you could get a better price selling private.

The restrictor and datatool sounds like a good deal. My 'kit' cost me 150 for my SV, which were a piece of paper and 2 washers!

Still windes me up the price of a restrictor kit!

Seems about right for local dealers around that area from what I've found. I don't live very far from Grantham either Jay and talking to some of the dealers around there and Lincoln they all seem unwilling to give decent deals and discounts etc.

Local Yam dealer admitted that they won't give a discount on a new Fazer to me as they sell that well they don't need to. Rolling Eyes All very well from a sales point of view, but from a customers point of view it kind of put me off.

Besides, found a brand spanking 53 plate pre regged still in its crate for a grand less elsewhere, so not complaining! Wink At least it made me shop around rather than staying local. Worth the extra milage to get a better deal.

If they're calling you then its a good sign they want shot of the bike, so keep hassling for more.

What's the rep of the dealer? They seem a bit keen to shift it, could be that they need to meet targets I suppose.

Good stuff, you obviously made an impression and they wanted to shift the bike. Sounds like you made them bend over for it though, always the best way to treat salesmen! Wink Thumbs Up
