PostPosted: 16:40 - 21 May 2008    Post subject: Police Watch Reply with quote

Following another thread I thought I would create this to help us spot the local unmarked police cars in our areas. The idea is to add to the list any cars we see pulling people over/pulling us over.

After reading up the subject. I have established that Unmarked cards tend to have:

. Lack of signs on rear of the car
. Duplicate rear view mirrors
. Officers in uniform (obviously)
. Multiple aerials on the roof
. Large LCD computer display in the front (like large satnavs)
. Rear facing equipment such as cameras, boxes etc
. No hub caps, usually alloy wheels
. Extra lights in rear window/ blue tint to light clusters

I have found a picture of a typical unmarked police car

https://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6779/unmarkedcar1ox1.png

The list so far is as follows:

WORCESTER
Blue Impreza
Silver Skoda Octavia
Black Fabia Estate
2 Black Skoda Octavia
Blue 90 - 95 Mondeo Estate
Silver 206

CARDIFF
Black Impreza

BRIGHTON
Silver Merc

CAMBOURNE A30
Silver BMW Estate

BOURNEMOUTH
56 Plate BMW X5

TELFORD
Black Octavia

SOUTH HAMPTON
Octavia

LINCOLNSHIRE
BMW 5 Series Estate

Thumbs Up

Thats all of the list I have at the moment, given by various members of this forum.

From looking at this list it is probably best if you keep an eye out for the Skoda Octavia

https://www.inchirieri-masini-bucuresti.ro/images/thb/13_Skoda_Octavia_1.jpg

And the Subaru Impreza

Cheers Mate. If you want to add to the Telford list there is also like a gun metal Grey Volvo Estate.

Do people actually have a list in their head of unmarked cars in their area? "Nah I'm not overtaking that car cos its a black Octavia/silver Merc." Laughing

That 'typical unmarked car' is a very unsubtle one. Smile

Yes, still in my two year probation so another three points will lose me my license. I'm extremely cautious about passing any suspicious new car, and if I see any of the likely volvos, skodas, fords etc parked at the side of the road anywhere I always drop down to the speed limit to pass them. So far out of the hundreds of cars I've avoided this way only twice have they actually been unmarked cars, both times the same black 56 plate focus but it's still enough to have possibly saved my license so its worth doing.

What he ^^^ said.

If you can't spot an un-marked car without memorising a huge list of specific cars then you deserve to be caught. Chances are you'll get caught by one because your too busy looking for another that you've read on the list. Laughing

I just tend to avoid cars that look weird or give me a dodgy feeling. Also try to avoid Boy racers as they kind of disagree with being over took by a moped Razz usually making them rage at me.

Also
https://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6779/unmarkedcar1ox1.png

Is the most obvious unmarked car i think i have seen.

FUCK Neutral
I had a blue Imprezza right up my ass this afternoon between Gaulford and Powick.
I filtered past it and a long line of cars at the end of Gaulford straight Worcester/ Upton T-junction, then got straight up to a tonne on the way to Powick which is where I noticed him coming right up behind me.
I took a long sweeping right turn at beyond 45o doing between 90-100 and he was still just meters behind me, I hit a pothole though and got a bit of a shake, thank jeez for USD forks Razz
At the time I was thinking "Pig. Pig. Pig. Pig. Pig. Pig. Pig!!!" and after he saw the speed at which I took the corner he backed off Cool

I'm not sure whether he was a copper or not becuase he did'nt apear to flash the lights at the points when I was hooning... and as soon as I came upto other traffic including a bike infront I just slowed down and did it by the book, he seemed happy to let me be. Maybe I'm going to get banned Confused Meh, Speculations... Wink

On motorways i just check up slip roads and across bridges, also check out the car that keeps pace but hold back. Minor roads, don't be an arse and speed, national speed roads single carrageways, just look as far ahead as possible which you should be doing anyway so you can stop in time for the dickhead pulling out on you.

I know, all those arrows and writing on it - well obvious. I'd certainly notice it.

The police are /supposed/ to not do dodgy stuff like filtering fast etc, though I'd expect their observations are very good on country roads allowing them to keep up a respectable speed safely. Anyway, blackbird's are hardly 'fast' by today's litre bike standards Smile.
