Posted: 13:46 - 17 May 2008 Post subject: Who Did You Pick As Best Man? |
 |
|
My wedding's coming up soon (July) and I need to sort out a best man. Obviously, there's not that much for the best man to actually do, but one of the biggest things to me is the speech. I'm actually thinking of picking my brother as my best man. Would this be relatively unheard of, or is it fairly commonplace?
Your thoughts of who you best man was and why?
Cheers! ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

Your cutting it fine aren't you, I was joint best man at my mates wedding and he told me a year and a half beforehand, still didn't stop me putting off writing my speech until just before the wedding
I was an old School friend and the other best man was a work mate of his, but it worked well, the stag do, wedding and speeches all went really well.
Lots of people have brothers as best men so I can't see that being a problem.
Whist the best man doesn't have loads to do other then sort out the stag do and giving a speech, it can be hard work and fairly stressful!
Taking 20 pissed up blokes on a day/night out, keep everybody happy and moving around in any kind of organized fashion is a nightmare.
As is making a speech to a load of people if your not in to public speaking, I know I didn't sleep that well the night before.
Good luck and hope the wedding goes well. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

When I got married, my husband to be had his brother-in law as his best man, so brother, friend, anyone is acceptable, just as long as they can say something funny that will embarrass you ____________________ Enjoy everyday, tell those you love everyday you love them

Mine was my best mate (& I was his).
We were at the same nursery, junior school & secondry school so you could say we've known each other since we were 1 year old (32 years now!!!).

I had a lot of people to choose from for mine.
DO I go with my eldest brother who I am very close with, did I go with teh friend I grew up with or another from school or another from college!?
I choose the friend from college, see him more regularly than the other friends (even tho in contact with all of them a lot).
Also choose him for the stag do I think he will arrange, not bothered about what stories he digs up.... and theres plenty lol.
Never choose my brother as even though he isn't my best man he will be with me throughout the whole thing, and will help my best man if he so wishes.
Choose who you want, I dont think anyone worrys apart from the actual best man.
I gave my best man over a years notice like. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

I've got 2 older brothers, I was best man to one and another was best man to me, However the 3rd had a mate as his best man.
All worked out fine, except for one thing... NEVER LET YOUR BROTHER ORGANISE THE STAG DO!!
You'd think I'm saying this due to how out of control the 'stag weekend' was, far from it!
They clubbed together and hired a boat on the norfolk broads for the weekend, brilliant idea... but there it ends... To spend the whole time fishing!! I hate fishing! It's so utterly boring and such a waste of a fun way to do a pub crawl. They didn't even order a stripper!
9 years on from then and I've learnt they really don't know me very well at all... My mates do though. ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
