my ch*nky 4t is idling too high, at around 3000rpm!
but if i turn out the idle adjust screw, it drops then dies. (& then i have trouble starting it & when started i have to keep revving it or it will conk out!)
turning it the other way & it idles higher.
any suggestions?
cheers,
GAZ

Adjust the mixture screw. Could be running too rich and flooding the engine.

Yes. Just remember how many turns you have done so you can put it back to where it was when you got it. Just keep adjusting it until it ticks over at about 1000-1500rpm.

hi,
no choke isnt on.
that was my 1st thought, so i even disconnected choke cable.
then removed airbox so i could see the choke flap (dunno the technical term, butterfly?)
choke mechanism is working fine.
ie it is open until i pull the lever, when it closes & it re-opens fine.
cheers,
GAZ

hi,
its been idling high since i got it.
fully serviced the bike when i got it at 1000 miles.
including removing carb & cleaning out thoroughly, cleaning the filter.
does it with airbox on or off.
UPDATE :just checked my plug, very clean, & insulator is white, metal tip is whithish/grey, this indicates a bit lean, right?
so now im stumped!
cheers,
GAZ
