Well i got my package from ebay with my full power-kit in it today, all this bits ready to go so went out and took my bike apart, fitted the power-valve and soilenoid (spelling) but there was no rave unit plug to be found anywhere.

I read up on this and some places said the new CDI's do all the P-valve controlling and dont need the rave unit, just took it out for a ride and there was no extra power at all (yes ive done all the adjustements a full power bike needs).

If anyone knows where the rave unit plugs in as im guessing you need that to control the p-valve?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jamie

hi,
what year is your bike & what CDI does it have (under rear seat)
while your there, look for a black box (sometimes has 7800 stamped onto it) held down with 2 bolts that loosen off under the rear end.- this is what controls the pv.- you just need to follow the cable until you find the plug - pv solenoid plugs into it!
as you should now have a cable coming from solenoid with a plug/socket on the end?
as far as im aware the pv controller is combined with the CDI in the later bikes- those i dont know about, sorry!
cheers,
GAZ

Well the stock exhaust doesnt make a diffrence when the power-valve is fitted you still get a boost of power (maby a bit less than an after market exhaust).

My bike is 2007 model, i have the rave unit and it ISNT plugged in, i cant find where to plug it in, you say it plugs into the solonoid itself, from all the reading up i did its supposed to plug into a wire near the rear seat end coming out of the main loom but i cant find the plug anywhere its just not there? ill check tomorrow if it actually plugs into the solonoid.

Yes the valve is the correct way around i need to know where the rave unit plugs in as i dont have it plugged in yet thats the only thing im struggling with.

Matt maby when you have some free time you/i could meet somewhere and you could take a look (maby you have more knowledge than me) as were both from plymouth, i seen you around town the other day aswell up by the round-about by the train station, you looked back at me dont know if you recognized me or not.

Thanks for the replys so far guys.

EDIT: forgot to mention i have the new Piaggio CDI.

hi,
you could be right...
the black pv controller should have a cable coming from it with a white plug on it,
where does it plug into (follow it)
if it plugs into the loom, then your right & you should be following the loom for a spare outcoming cable/plug.
there is a cable coming from solenoid, right? have you plugged this into anywhere?
so you need to connect the solenoid to the rave controller.
im sure on mine the cable/plug was on the right side, under tank, just above the carb.
sure you will find the plug!
hope this helps.
cheers,
GAZ

I have followed the loom and i cant find any wires that match the Rave unit plug (the rave unit plug is a 6 quite wide pinned plug, 3 on top and 3 under like a dice).

Ive plugged the solonoid etc. in ive already mentioned that and not worried about that because i know everything is fitted properly EXCEPT the rave unit, ive checked EVERYWHERE for this connector and cant find it.

Does the rave unit actually plug directly into the solonoid unit (the little motor looking thing) or does it plug in somewhere under the back seat like it says everywhere i look?

Ive plugged the cable the comes from the solonoid into the correct plug it needs to go in, and the other cable from the solonoid is connected to the power-valve, im just looking for the one that the rave unit plugs into?

Thanks for the help so far Thumbs Up

hi,
yup, you were right.
rave box should be plugged into loom.
solenoid should also be plugged into loom, but at a different point.
& on mine it was on same side as solenoid,
around the carb area, cable tied up.
so keep looking for that connector! lol
cheers,
GAZ

Yes, ive found out from the dealer that my 'model' doesnt even have the connector which doesnt make sense as it has the connectors for the solonoid and the power-valve just goes straight in.

Ive ordered a new wiring loom now from a 2006 model which will fit mine and it has the rave unit plug on it so sorted and it only cost me £23 from ebay thats including P&P and my deal wanted over £150 for wiring loom Thumbs Down

Thanks for all your help on this guys its greatly appreicated!

Jay.
