Hi,
sorry for the new post. (search facility not working)
but im getting confused regarding how my plug should look.
the " ground strap",( think it is called) is grey/white.
the electrode/tip is gey/white,
insulator is white,
& base thread is black & first couple of threads are slightly black.
will try & upload a pic from phone (cant seem to find my cameres)
anyway, does this a bit lean or alright for a 4t?
cheers,
GAZ

That has got to be one of the most useless photos ever. Laughing

Anyway.

Ignore the spark plug threads they are of no consequence. What you want is a beige / light brown colour on the core or electrode. As said, black soot is rich. White deposits or signs of a burnt electrode indicate a weak mixture. I guess your on the side of a lean mixture going by your description.

hi,
sorry for shite pic.
anyway most sites i have looked at, say i should look at the base thread as well rest of tip.
& as i said electrode is grey/whithish, coulour change is halfway across strap, which is supposedly a good sign.
but the base thread is black.some sitesim looking at, suggest im not burning all the fuel/oil off at certain throttle openings??
im trying to get to the reason why it idles so high?
cheers,
GAZ

The plug is fine and its not causing the high tickover. Make sure the idle adjuster is wound all the way out/down.Try disconnecting the choke if its a cable and push it closed. Make sure the throttle cable is has plently of slack in it and the throttle cam thing is returning all the way home.

hi,
chokes working ok ( i disconnected it to check)
as soon as i turn the idle adjust screw out, rpm would drop but engine cuts out soon after!
it would only idle at 3000rpm.
UPDATE : - after advice frome other chinese bike owners,
moved needle clip down 1 notch, to where it should be - middle notch.
turned mixture screw to 1 3/4 turns out,
now idling at 1800rpm!
havnt looked at the plug, but looks like im getting there,
thanks for all the advice,
cheers,
GAZ
