I've never bought a new battery, I tend to find them in job lots of spares I tend to buy or when stripping bikes keep the battery , they fire up the NTV in less than a couple spins on the starter I rate it as a good battery.
I reckon I need a new one for the CBR600FX, (its a bosch battery I deep cycled when the NTV went total loss) I'm pretty sure I don't want a bog standard lead acid battery.
https://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/shop/productprofile.asp?Model=&ProductGroupID=976&Brand=&DepartmentName=&DepartmentID=
It says AGM battery, which says Gel battery at the bottom , being a complete nunce when it comes to batteries, with a Gel battery do you still need acid packs?.
As said I've never bought a new battery before and assumed Gel meant it came sealed up you charge it for a couple hours and stick it in the bike without having to put acid in.
So I think I'm wrong right in that gel batteries still do need acid putting into them but only once to erm activate them , rather than the ancient sort where you opened up holes in the top of them (which contained glass marbles) and you put distilled water in?.
Somebody from London once nearly sold me a battery and we fell out hence this is a closed avenue to battery purchase , and the Davidsilver battery I'm not sure what it happens to be a gel or a bog standard lead acid battery.
Any thoughts?

Thanks guys I'll probably order it later on today, £35ish isn't too bad for a battery , I saw a similar one in a shop for £55. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. It arrived a few days ago and I've only just gotten round to opening the box.
So I rip the seal off put the acid in seal it up , then stick it on a trickle charger for say 5 hours @ 0.5amps for 2.5amps then stick it in the bike? .
It'd kind of be bad to deep cycle it on its first use me thinks... ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

I was having real problems with batteries on my ZX6. They were not holding a charge so I assumed that it was a fault on the bike rather than the battery. I eventually bought an Odyssey and not had a problem since.
Got it from https://carrotcycles.co.uk/ PC310 was £60 ____________________ the undemocratically unelected mod of the Scottish section |
