Yeah, Id disconnect the battery first though to avoid risking damage to the CDI etc.

Cheers
John

Yeh,after removing/disconnecting rad which means i then have to go out and buy distilled water and the fancy 5 year coolant i put in it,then a stud breaks/snaps/threads,new exhaust gaskets.I can't be arsed when it's a couple of small blow holes on the link pipe.

Thanks for the advice everyone,i thought i would have to disconnect the battery but will probably do the CDI and rectifier too as it takes seconds.Oh and the clamp near the weld sounds like a good idea too.

Cheers Paul.

If the pipe is badly rusted (in separate pieces) then it's always best to at least tack it together on the bike. It's amazing how far out of line you can weld a pipe if you take it off first.

My exhaust was welded when still attached to the bike but it had to be placed on the edge of a pit as the angle was to difficult to do otherwise.
Stilll fine and that was about 2 years ago
