Ok so at the moment I seem to be at a stop in my life and I havent got a clue what to do.

Ive just failed college, I have no job, no savings and no girlfriend.

On the plus side, ive got the freedom to do whatever I want when I can afford it, and I have a few good mates nearby.

So what should I do? im lost as to what to do next.

Cheers
John

Stop feeling sorry for yourself for a start, kick yourself up the arse and set yourself a goal.Girlfriends and savings are neither here nor there, they come along as life goes on.

Either:

1: find yourself a crappy job and be happy just getting by.
2:It's the right time to get into looking at college courses look at them.
3:pray you find that lucky job where you fit in and can go further.
4:find a fiddle that suits you for a bit while you decide.

Keepin yourself dead focused and really determined to reach a goal works.

So think of a realistic goal, like get a job. Whatever experience you have, someone somewhere will need ya, so find where and get sorted. As said, cash and socializing comes from it so before you know it you'll probs have the cash, new mates and a girl.

Plus there is college if you wanna go re-try that.

Winner. Thumbs Up

In my experience, you have to be at a low point before you can move on,,, sounds to me you are there, most importantly,,, don't let yourself go any lower.....

Firstly find a job no matter how sh**y it is, once you are earning you will move on to a better one...

Lean on your mates for surport, not your full weight, as you will piss them off....

The rest comes natuarlly, taking each day as they come, remembering and learning from this point in your life,,, cause hold onto your hat,,, it's not going to be your first low but the beginning of many highs...

Good luck Karma Karma Thumbs Up

Either college then job or just job. Girlfriend comes later. If you don't do something now, then you'll miss out on your twenties and you'll be unemployable and you won't be able to do all of the things you always promised yourself.

I was in a similar situation, and I failed university. I got a job, but it was crap. I've now got a good job but I feel like I've wasted some of my young life.

Don't be in a rush to get attached to a girl. Get a job, get some money or go to college then get a job, then do all of the things you always wanted to do. Then hook up with a girl on a more permanent basis if you want.

Pretty sure everyone does, why should you be made to feel guilty about it.

The problem is the facebook generation, rubbing everyones faces in what globe-trotting, high flying, young go getters they are, and how great their life is compared to yours.

The t'interweb has opened up all kinds of possibilities for proving one-upmanship over your peers. Spend half an hour reading about what your old school mates have been up to since then, guaranteed to make you feel like crap.

Back on topic ever so slightly, life isnt a checklist, forget the status quo, and just do what you want.

I don't have Facebook, and I hated all but about six of the people who were in my year at school.

I feel like I've wasted it in the wrong way. I feel like I should have wasted it at house parties and getting laid rather than working and trying to pass Uni etc etc. If I had *known* I wasn't going to get a degree I could have done it in style! Wink

I really don't want to get facebook for that reason, but since all my BCF mates don't use chat any more, and use Facebook instead I feel very left out sometimes...

Find a job that gets you some reasonable money.

Then think long and hard about what you want out of life...talk to your friends, family, colleagues

Our son has tried several things he's now 21 and just fallen on the course he really wants through me talking to others and speaking to him...he's got the top marks of the year and loves what he's doing....hoping to go to Uni next year and really loving life....he has at last found what he wants to do!

Don't give up hope......what you want is out there....reach for it...

Nice to know its not just me Smile

The bad thing is, I actually choose, not to visit some people who are successful because I will just get envious and bitter about my life. They don't like the envy that they pick up on from me, and they don't respect me as I havn't amounted to much.

This sort of thing creates barriers between people, and I know now that I should only hang around people who are about as unsuccessful as me.

I'd quite like to get a bit of success myself someday, but I think Id prefer to settle to be content, as I'm not sure I could pull off being successful.

Virus, try to sort your life out as early as you can, as if you leave it too long, it will just get harder to do.

Often the people who acheive in life, are just the people who won't rest until things are how they want them to be.

Of course I'm not gonna take my own advice... but thats down to my weakness.

Hi John, firstly, failure at college is no big deal. You could always retake the course should you choose to. I failed my first college course because I was a complete arse. It was totally my fault but I learnt from it and re-took it - this time with more energy and determination. No girl in this situation would be a good thing as no distractions.

Thats if you plan to go down that route...

The other, work.

Work is work mate, it doesnt matter if you push trollies at Tescos or are a top accountant. You will generate respect from the people that matter as you will be self sufficient and you can hold your head high when you get the next round in at the pub, paid with money you have earnt doing a decent, honest job. I have delivered pizzas and shovelled shit in my time. Am I embarrassed about it, no. I did what I had to do to keep food on the table and a roof over my head.

Success is a funny word, there are so many variations.

Would you rather be earning a average wage with decent friends amongst you and well respected or earning loads of money with make pretend friends that are only there to help you live the high life with your money.

Hope you find a job soon, there are plenty out there but you may have to lower your standards for a year or two Thumbs Up

Hey mate, just seen this post.

I personally was at the same point about a year ago, if a little younger than you.

I was a very high acheiver at school (primary) all the teachers sang my praise and I won a scholarship (sp?) to the private school in the area.

I didn't go, I'm from a normal background where people actually have to balance money and not throw it around, and my parents felt I'd get victimised/looked down on because I'd have to get public transport and not have a pool and a big house to bring my friends back. And they didn't want me to not experience 'real' education.

So I went to a decent grammar school, where in the first 3 years I was very much the same, getting straight A's and working hard. I got grade 6 saxophone in year 8. After that it went downhill. I just stopped caring. Fucked up gsce's and then the school let me contine to As because they beleived I would change.

I didn't. As soon as I went into year 12 I hardly turned up to school, prefering to piss around doing nothing, or drinking/smoking too much.

Left shortly after that and had a 12 hour job at weekends, which was alright. But it left me with nowt to do during the week, and I couldn't go out with friends because of work. So I got pissed off with that and generally thought that life was pointless. I was getting into debt from parents cause I'd drink away the money, or just spend it doing nowt. Didn't get to see any friends, and then the ladyfriend from my other post cheated on me the first time, that hit me quite hard. I stopped going to work and eventually got fired.

I had to sort it out.

What I did was

College. I applied to do a NVQ in catering and catering theory, got accepted, and got my certificate a week ago.

I got a job doing catering 35-45 hours a week, it's lower money than a job I would have got if I had done 25 a week, but it works out the same.

I think the important thing is to find something that will occupy your time,

Think of it like this.

If you have college (which you should go back to with a fresh mind)
thats what like 10-22 hours a week, 3 days?

If you can get a job which is 30 hours a week, even on low money, you will feel better because you have nearly no free time, and you will actually be getting tired out, thus sleeping better. You will save money, and then when you actually get some time off, you have it to spend.

At the same time you will be saving.

Look into bar work ( I think you are 19) at this time of year they are normally looking for people who want to work over the summer with an aim to replace people who are leaving to go to uni/gap year come september. Money is normally min wage or roundabouts, but it's a job.

I hope you get sorted soon mate.

Pyro
