 |
|
not sure if any of you know but a Nasa astronaught Edgar Mitchell (6th man on the moon and holds record for longest time on the moon) has claimed that aliens have been in contact with various governments for roughly 60 years.
granted we get loonies saying aliens exist but this guy is a bit more respected in the scientific community and nasa are even shocked that he openly admitted this and have very little to say on the subject.
Now with the belgium, french and british government disclosing all their information on ufo's showing several accounts of ufo activity that have been unexplainable over the last few decades it is begining to gain more attention.
of course this could all just be publicity for the new x-files film
wot do you all think?, personally i think they exist but unsure if they are actually visiting us, if they could travel across space and reach our planet im guessing they would be easily able to avoid detection but i'd quite like it if they were visiting us as it would mean were not alone and george bush isnt the leader of the most powerful nation in the universe. ____________________ Current Bikes RVF400 - 94

There's no real reason why aliens would want to visit us. I was reading a book which said that they'd be so advanced they'd make us look like cavemen, so we would have nothing to other them. Our weapons to them would be like a wooden slingshot or our technology like a black & white tv.
It's impossible for other life forms not to exist really, the universe didn't create itself & humans didn't suddenly appear from nothing. Which is where you'll get people saying about the Big Bang theory, God & the Bible. It's all seems to be connected somehow tho.
I'd love to see Bush having a convo with one tho. |

I recall a case of a guy in the UK who recently hacked into the pentagon and is awaiting extradition. He claimed that whilst he was only hacked in to the system for a short amount before he was detected, he said that he opened many files which were pictures taken from satellites etc which had been photoshopped to edit out UFO like objects, thought it was rather interesting myself.
I firmly believe that there must be other life out in the universe, whether it be advanced and more intelligent, or simply bacteria or other simple organisms. Given the enormous incomprehendable size of the universe, the galaxies and numbers of stars and other planets scattered throughout, I cannot believe that we are the one single sole sentient species.
Though there are many fake videos or false videos out there and certainly some nut jobs I do enjoy occasionally reading around the UFO topic as I think its fascinating, especially when you start reading around ancient somarian/mayan/egyptian texts about annunaki and things like that.

Funny thing watching people talking about aliens.
People seem to think that an alien is going to be like a human.
There is an equal possibility that aliens couldn't even create voice. In fact, another life form has the possibility of not even communicating at all. Nothing is set in stone in the universe, it is almost by chance that we are a social species.
Who knows if an alien life form even has eyes or senses altogether? An intelligent life form wouldn't necessarily need senses to dictate where they are going.
With so many gases in the atmosphere, what is to say that an alien life form would survive decent into our atmosphere? Would they be able to breath? What if they rely on cyanide to survive? How in fact could one enter the atmosphere without bouncing off into the solar system, unless of course this life form is from a mass body with an atmosphere like our own.
Problem with scientists and speculators generally, is that they expect any possible life form to be much like our own.
Like the stupid desire to find water on a celestial body. What if we are the only species that need water to survive. That goes again for warmth. For all we know a life form could exist in Uranus. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Although what you're saying is true life could exist in a completly different environment to our own, we know for a fact that life does exist with oxygen water light etc etc... the things we have on earth, we know for a fact that this formula works. It is much easier to study planets with similar environments to our own than to study all planets in the hope that life may have spawned in a different way to us.
hope that makes sence
Also consider that life is /probably/ more likely to exist on a planet with a stable environment like our own than one like jupiter, it is also fair to assume a planet with life on it would need some kind of O zone, or something similar, since as far as we can tell large doses of solar radiation = death, Like you have pointed out another life form might rely on pure radiation and solar rays to survive, they might eat uranium for breakfast for all we know, but we need something to start with or we would need to study every single planet to be sure there was no life.
Also having an atmosphere is pretty handy for keeping big rocks away from us, bare in mind we almost got exterminated ourselfes a few million years ago by an asteroid so its safe to assume we are looking for a planet with some sort of atmosphere.

Fair point, but even animals and insects present some form of communication between each other so it wouldnt be greatly past the realms of possibility for us to expect that a non-earth entity would probably somehow, someway do the same.

I think its a fair assumption, given that were we to speculate on what the alternatives could be, the possibilities would be endless. Add into the fact that from what we know the same elements in the periodic table are here on earth just as they are present 10,000 light years away, yet we understand the relationship between oxygen and haemoglobin and how that drives energy production in the cell, powering life as we know it, yet would probably struggle to see how this could occur with cyanide as the main ingriedient, for lack of a better word. Then again, I guess you cant predict how evolution would progress 10,000 light years away so I suppose it's just as possible...

Wouldnt really call it stupid, I think theres an equal desire to search for water to see if other planets are colonizable in addition to trying to determine whether this meant life previously existed on mars. Im quite fond of the panspermia theory, kind of adds to the arguement 'for' alien species.

Aliens do exist as evidenced by your local chav nightclub on a Saturday night. Most of the clientèle simply cannot be human. ____________________ Dark Lord Of Custard
