I would just like to tell everyone to go out and buy a CG!! Had the bike 6 months riden it every single day. Done over 5500miles on the bloody thing and havent had a single thing go wrong with it.

the only things iv had to buy to 2 tyers and a chain and sprocket set. Iv also changed the spark plug once and given it a oil change 3 times.

Fuel lasts forever, you can get 100-120miles out of £5!

Makes me wish I never brought any of my NSR's.

CG for the win!!!

Thumbs Up
I'll be swapping the FZR for one, maybe a 250, when I go up to uni.

I really wish I had an old CG kicking around for when I'm skint or the ZXR isn't working

Might pick one up if I find some spare cash

You went through a C&S in 5500k miles on a CG Shocked, do you ever lube it? The one on my speed four is 12k miles old and still has a bit of adjustment left that has a dam site more power, I think in 5k miles of owning my RXS I had adjusted the chain once and it was far from new to start with!

I had the same tyres on it too I could hardly notice any wear on them after 5k miles.

CG, there is nothing on the YBR that is better than a CG.

CG beats a YBR hands down.

My mate's sister has just picked up an 06 YBR125. It's had one owner, only done 4000 odd miles and has never been used in the wet. The amount of rust on it is shocking and it looks awful when stood next to my other mates 22 year old CG.

Plus it's slower than the CG too.

Thats because you only need a rev counter on a bike you can damage by reving too high. Wink

Thats not the purpose of rev counters.

Very few (if any) bikes can be damaged by revving them too high.

The thing is with my little CG is that iv only got a top end of 65 but you get used to that pretty quick!

Im just happy thats iv got a bike which has never failed to get me home!iv even done over 200miles in one day on it haha

Even when i pass my test im keeping my little bike!its done something like 36k now but thats nothing vs my mates 81 CG which has over 96k on the clock and still going very strong!

I'd have quite happily stayed on mine if the chavs hadn't ripped it off.

They are an excellent piece of kit.

no just chose to make my own

even on high revving monsters, the rev counter, is not there to stop you thrashing the bike

Nope it is sat there so we can blip the throttle and watch the needle bounce from side to side when we are bored. Thumbs Up Twisted Evil

I'm inclined to say that the CGs lack of a rev counter is a benefit to new riders.

No, its there to let you know what revs you are doing, so you can tell if you are caining it through the redline.

A few cgs has tachos, think they were import versions.

I just wait for the noise of valve float before I change up on mine, that tends to work. Laughing

I look at my rev counter more at low revs, I tend to be aware of when the bike is hitting the redline, as it screams at me.

well my clocks have numbers by the speeds like 1st 22mph 2nd 36 3rd 52 just lets you know that is the top speed for that gear so kinda works like a rev counter

My rev counter is fine till about 7000 rpm then it bounces wildly around. The speedo does the same over 70 mph.

1980's Hondas...you gotta love em!

I had my CG nicked a while ago and really struggled finding a decent replacement. Just got one, H reg with 650 miles on the clock!!! absolutely immaculate Very Happy
I use mine for work, 24 mile round trip, never had a problem in the morning with either bike, always starts even in the middle of winter.
I would recommend them to anyone new to biking.
They are great for learning basic motorcycle maintenance as well, I do almost everything myself. Thumbs Up

my only regret about getting a CG, is that its almost too bulletproof.

Since moving on from my CG i cant find a bike that can handle the same amount of abuse, im killing bikes every 6 months Laughing

my ybr is nearing 9,000miles in a 1.5 year and has only had 1 set of new tyres and brake pads done to it.

Doesnt matter how hard i rag it its yet to die on me(apart of me wants it to before the 2 year warranty expires).
