I'd check the valve clearances and make sure the carburettor is clean and still in good condition. That is if you haven't already done them since you got the bike.
They probably won't have even been looked at if it was before 2000/4000km.
If you got a Haynes and a buddy to help you, I reckon you could do the valve clearances. It should be doable on a GZ if you take your time and follow the manual step by step. Some people just prefer to get a garage to do engine work though. Fair enough

New plug and clean the air filter and a general service. I would not mess with the carb untill you have checked/changed all the consuables. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |
