 |
|
Hi well as you know i recently purchased a cbr125r and have paid the deposit, however i now have worries that it may be an import.
The main reason i have to worry is the clocks, they are as seen below. Not my clocks but same thing...
https://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk171/jonpodd/IMG_2125.jpg
They clearly have had a sticker over the clock to say mph. However i have been assured they do read in mph and not kph.
The dealer who sold it me told me it is a UK bike and the headlights go the right way, and also he says it was first registered in the UK.
So is the bike imported or legit?
Also if you think it is imported what should i do about it, should i still buy the bike or does it make a lot of difference to the bike?
Thanks

Hi
99% likely a parallel import whether someone has fitted a UK headlight or not, and whether it was first registered in the UK or not.
UK ones would have a speedo showing mph and kmh (legal requirement to either show kmh only or kmh and mph, mph on its own is not legitimate). Entirely possible to fit a converter to change the signal to the clocks so that they read in mph rather than kmh, which is probably what has been done here.
All the best

What should i do then? Should i contact the guy and ask him about this further? Or should i carry on and buy it?

Oh right I thought you meant you didn't need one at all for an MOT. ____________________ Don't practice it until you get it right, practice it until you don't get it wrong.

How odd, I'll have to tell my boss to stop buying speedo drives for all the bikes for the MOTs then ____________________ Don't practice it until you get it right, practice it until you don't get it wrong.

It probably has one of those Motrax speedo converters fitted; the MPH sticker looks the same as the one on my bike. You can confirm this by looking at either end of the speedo cable - you'll either have a blue converter at the top or a gold one at the bottom.
