Yeah just pop by B&Q and pick up five 6mm washers, place them in the seat compartment and hey presto! 'Yes it's restricted officer' |

Just to let every body know
I have just rung up the DVLA and they have told me, i am under no legal obligation to have a certificate to prove that i have a restrictor kit in my motorcycle, all i need to do is have the restrictor kit in, and if the police suspect i don't have one they will just test the bike to see if it is restricted.
So DON'T spend £130-£150 on a restrictor with a certificate because you don't need one, all you need is the restrictor kit, and i will post as soon as i find a place which just sell the restrictor kit, so saving every one money,
as far as i know to restrict a XV535 its just two washers in the exhaust (thanks to tzr )
Thanks
Chrisdd
(PS Please Post if you know the correct sizes of the washers or if you know a place which just sells the restrictor kit) |

I think the 33bhp limit is at the crank tbh if it was at the rear wheel you could just set your back brake to drag a fair bit on a dyno to reduce the power thats recorded.
I was told the virago restrictors fitted in the diaphragm slide to stop the carbs opening fully
If as the dvla state the bike just needs to be restricted to comply with a restricted licence then surely you could just limit throttle movement so that you bike won't reach the part of the rev range that develops over 33 bhp, that way all you need is dyno chart for your model bike (assuming yours is stock)and set the throttle according to that. |
