 |
|
Hi
The woman has a 1.25 16v T reg Fiesta with ~70k miles on it.
Misfires all the time, whenever you try and give it any throttle. Changed the spark plugs today and it cured it for literally 2 or 3 miles, then it started intermittantly, and now it's back to its old tricks.
Any ideas?
Btw, anyone know how much it would be to chuck it into a dealers and get a diagnostic report?
Ta

Garth, i bought a diagnostic tool for my car, it cost me £25 from ebay & the dealers quoted me £60.
Works a charm although it came up clear. This one's a few more pennies. This |

Does this car have ignition leads or does it have little coilpacks that connect to the plugs and then wire into the ECU?
If its leads, then check all the contacts are clean and tight. If that doesnt cure it, then try a set of new leads. If its on coilpacks, then it could be one of them is malfunctioning and causing the misfire.. ____________________ 1997 Kawasaki ER 500 A1:- Once again, Its merely crap |

Right hand side of the cam cover, you can't miss it all the HT leads run into it and a lead with a plug from the ECU.
You may need a torque bit to remove it not sure on the size though.
Shouldn't be any more than £40 from a motor factors loads more from a main stealer! Think I got my last one for £26.

*Edit* Make sure it is that before you buy one, but it is a known fault of the Zetec 1.25. ____________________ Andy Sez....

Bought a new one and intend on fitting it tonight.
Any special procedures to fitting it? Disconnect battery, or not?
Don't wanna bugger the ECU.

I don't see why you'll bugger the ECU by disconnecting the battery. It may run a bit rough at first as it re-learns, but as long as you know your radio code and you don't have a weird immobiliser, you should be fine.
It's generally a good idea to disconnect the battery when doing anything like that, even though nothing should be powered with the key off. |

He means disconnecting the battery before replacing the coil pack. ____________________ Andy Sez....
